Say goodbye to the vanilla Polybian single-feather helmet.
Say goodbye to identical soldiers.

Hi guys,

This is my first attempt on modding the Roman and this mod is meant to be used with my another mod on the Greeks and Carthaginians: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=325113741

Like my another mod, this mod is designed to work on vanilla and with vanilla models only. However, like my another mod, I make new variants with vanilla models.

The units will be made as historical as possible based on the materials I have.

Also, I make changes on unit ability and stat for some units.

Why no new models? The first reason is simple: I am not skilled at this.
And, it keeps the size of the mod very small. Actually by rearranging the existing models we can make a lot of new looks and sometimes too many variants can make the units look too disorganized. Of course, the existing models are only “usually” enough for the situation. I might try to collect suitable models from other modders (if they permit) if possible.

Great unit mods, both for greek and roman. Everyone else is creating overpowered units, that just steamroll through the game, you create some really useable units, but balanced that route and die like everyone else. GJ

@Over used Meme: I will certian update this mod after the coming dlc, as it provides new assets. Perhaps also with new units.

oh I do, mostly Archers, Slingers, Velites and Socii Equites Extra Ordinarii but its just that, I'd say anyways, that (for obvious reasons) Rome stuggles Cav wise. as I've made clear I get that, until the Imperial "era" they didn't really do much when it came to Cav other than hire natives. oh heres an idea. would it be posisble to add units specific to latium and the boot of Italy? by this I mean the numerous tribes like the Campanions, the...I think its Lucani? they'd basically be reskinned Socii Equites and Equites Extra Ordinarii with different Colours. the Campanions were, I believe espetially good Cavalrymen so perhaps they could have slightly higher stats than most.

@Over used Meme: This is a tricky question. First, for vanilia PVP, people seldom use pre-marian Rome coz Rome truly shine with the introduction of verteran legionarly/evocati. And on the other hand, Carthage units are usually stronger as they get higher attack than thier Greek counterpart. I would say even for vanilia, carthage is stronger than pre-marian Rome. Then, with my mod, both Carthage and Rome get stronger roster. Still Cathage may be stronger, but Rome also got more choices. I usually play in Hard difficulty, and I would say try to also rely on Itlaian units other than Principes and Triarii. Factions in my mods got a lot more units with light javelins, so try to pause the battle if possible.

So I fought Carthage as Rome...got destroyed even though I used Units that would have met Carthage in battle, Principes and Triarii and they got Butchered. do I need to get to actual Legionaries before I can actually fight them one on one or something? I get Gen units but every other modded unit was high risk to the Principes and Triarii.

think you'll add some more shock Cav to the Romans? Historically they began to expand their Armies, not just their Auxilia but the Cavalry arm of the Legions, as in actual Romans not just locals.

So it would be like an auxiliarized legionary? Sounds interesting. Oh, I have maybe two more new Roman unit ideas, Romanized horse archer and lancer.
Murray222  [author] 5 Apr, 2018 @ 8:27pm
@brfvod: actually I might create legionary units like "Gallic/Germanic" legion just like the one in Emprie divided, but I have to do some tests/trial first.

Hey Murray222, do you still create units?
If so I have an idea for a roman one, Roman auxiliary swordsmen. A sword unit that is cheaper than a legionnaire and has lower stats.
