Thanks Nosstradufus. I still need to put in my AI markers.
As for the resources, I started out with starting spots having 4000 which was suggested in a thread on the forums. However in testing I found that 4000 runs out in I'm guessing 6-8 mintues or so. It was entirely too short compared to what happens with normal maps. The spigot bar would start off only about 2/3rds full. So i changed it to 15000 for starting spots and 25000 for the middle & side expansion spots to encourage players to go there and gain map control.
I feel on official game maps, you can harvest from one spot for say 15 mintues or so before it runs dry. I don't know what their starting values are. My goal was trying to replicate that timeframe with starting at 15000.
I will consider & try to test further how long it takes for resorces to delete. Gives me something to think about.
Thanks.
What I don't like about this map is that I've been playing with too much idle AI and I'm starting every game like a sightseer, walking around saying to myself "ohh, that is nice too." I end up overwhelmed and realize that my scouts turned into explorers gawking at terrain textures and props and the third wave of AI pins down all production at my HQ. I'm going to go Goo on that AI next time.
Its a good map. I feel like the abundance of resources (amount at node especially) don't encourage expansion. It might just be the handful of games I've played on this map over the past week or so, and how those games were not really played to win.
...Looking at the instance data and the resource amounts, I'd argue you could decrease the amounts by a factor of ten and the map would still have enough resources for a decent game.
It comes down to design and maybe that was the approach, but this is my feedback.
Love this map and look forward to volcano theme.

I'll do my best. I don't plan on rushing through any of the maps I create. I'd rather make fewer good maps than several mediocre maps so follow me and stay tuned. :) thx.

Yeah, I knew there was a lot more that had to be done in a 4 player map. Just the crashed ship theme was really cool and it sparked my curiousity. I hope that your 4 player maps in the future are of the same quality because I will definitely subscribe to them as well.

Hi Knives. You know with a good 4 player map, you have to factor in balance, starting spots, etc. This map was made purely with 1v1 in mind. I'd probably be better off going a brand new 4 player map. I'm currently finishing up another 1v1 map now (Volcano theme) that will be done in less than a week. Maybe after that I'll look into 4 player maps just to mix it up. Thanks.
