Introduction

Oswiu was king of Bernicia, one of the Northumbrian kingdoms, the other being Deira. For most of the early part of his reign, he struggled to exert authority over Deira. He ruled during a period of Mercian supremacy under Penda. However, he managed to mirculously defeat and kill Penda in the battle of Winwaed. After this triumph, he gained control of Deira and Mercia, establishing himself as the most powerful ruler of Britain at the time. Recognised by the scholar Bede as bretwalda, Oswiu managed to dominate Britain. Even though he lost control of Mercia after three years, Oswiu remained influential until his death, evidenced by the recognition of Oswiu's primacy over Mercia.

Strategy

Northumbria is a culture-conquest civilization. Northumbria's special feature is the peaceful acquisition of City-States through putting them continuously under your protection for a set amount of time once you hit the Medieval Era. The more Culture Northumbria produces and the more territory it owns, the faster such City-States will join your side. Thus, conquering your enemies' territory will go hand in hand with the trait. What's more, the High Cross provides a Culture boost every time you train a unit, and this also contributes to the acquisition of new Tiles.

Troubleshooting

If you subscribed, but it doesn't show up:
1. Turn off the game.
2. Delete the Civ5ModsDatabase.db from Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache.
3. Launch the game and go to the mod section again.
After waiting for a brief period, all missing downloads should initiate and install!

If that didn't work, try this:
1. Go to Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
2. If there is a .civ5mod file in that folder, open that with 7zip, Winrar or similar software
3. Unzip/unpack the contents in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
