Description
Named after the legendary U.S.S. Galaxy that spearheaded the initially rocky rollout of Galaxy Class starships this frame likewise is the first of it's kind: as the first ship to leave the Utopia Planitia Shipyards after the invention of the Emergency Wartime Supply System the Galaxy-A has to not only carry on the legacy of the Galaxy's name but must also prove the viability of the EWS System for capital structures. As of 2415 the Galaxy-A has been the subject of several major restructurings to accomodate the newest EWS Interior Designs because Starfleet designers like to take advantage of her spacious hull. The ship is currently undergoing a complete overhaul at the Starbase 253 Refit Yards.

Welcome to the first upload of Commander Rotal's Galaxy 3.0 Project. I present to you a hollowed-out variant of the ship i am currently working on. The empty frame features plenty of room for all your needs and will allow you to adapt the Galaxy-A to your liking - play with mods? Install some Titan Engines. Play Survival? Stick some Solar Panels on her Nacelles and pack some serious thruster-materials and you're good to go! Want to make her dance?... well i guess you still need mods for that, the lady is heavy.

Important points of notice:
-) The ship is built as a station because she does not have enough Thrusters for functional Inertial Dampening; it's good enough as-is but for future releases i will look into ways to sneak more of them in and probably adjust this upload accordingly. For movement i highly recommend a Gravity Drive, Internal Thrusters with Damage disabled or modded blocks like Steroid Gyroscopes and Titan Engines.
-) For a number of reasons i have decided to leave the Seperation Area of the neck in an early state. Mostly it's because i forgot when i promised a release this week <.< but also because i can imagine not everyone wanting to deal with basically two ships merged together (keep in mind what kind of damage Merge Blocks can do to surrounding areas; i wouldn't want to be an Air Lock next to one). So if you don't want it you have significantly less work to do than if this area was finished, and if you do - well, all that's really missing is a plane of armor cubes and the Battle Bridge.
The two sections are held together by a few yellow pillar blocks in the Seperation Area; you can't miss them.
-) Speaking of Bridges: the Bridge Dome is the only interior this empty frame has - a version with actual Decks is in the making but you'll have to fill this one in by yourself. Is she a Survival Base or a Battleship? Modded up the ass or vanilla as her maker intended her? You decide! (The Bridge is btw not airtight. Still getting used to which blocks are airtight and which aren't.)
-) When downloading this world you SHOULD start in a small space station that's designed to accomodate you during the big reveal of a ship you probably already saw in the screenshots. Ah well. For those of us who'd like to explore the Galaxy in Survival (pun intended) the Observation Center should provide you with Oxygen, plenty of energy and a small ship that will bring you safely to your destination. However, the world is small (20 km) and does not feature asteroids to improve performance.
-) Which reminds me - she's not as bad as other huge projects but she's far from smooth-running. (Being empty helps tremendously though.)
-) The hull is currently missing both windows and Escape Pod Hatches. I have not decided yet whether or not i will add them to this version. As she is she looks a bit empty... but this variant is SUPPOSED to be an EMPTY SHELL so that's not necessarily a bad thing. Still brooding over this one.

(The Galaxy Class that this vessel was based on appeared in STAR TREK The Next Generation, STAR TREK Deep Space Nine, STAR TREK Voyager, STAR TREK Enterprise and the movie STAR TREK GENERATIONS, most famously represented by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. The Galaxy-A is named after the prototype of the Galaxy Class, the U.S.S. Galaxy NCC-70637, that managed to survive both of her sister ships Enterprise and Yamato as well as the entire Dominion War.)

For all the improvements the hull received for the 3.1... i still think the old Nacelles looked better.

*pet's the 3.0 and goes back to work*

In this piscture the concept is clearly seen as you can see the deflector is not illuminating any blocks around it. The light there is ambient light from the background.

the impulse engine and nacells arent lit. their slef illuminating blocks, they stay the same color and shade reguardless of light levels and angle viewed. in reality they produce no light on their own.

Looks great! But be wary of overloading your system with lighting. If the upper left corner starts displaying "Render Overloaded" shut it off, it eats computers.

I havent flown her yet, shes still a station. Largely im not building her to fly (though she will be able to if my PC can handle it) shes mostly being built so ill have a starfleet ship to play with. Im using several mods to make her function, she will have impulse, manuvering thrusters and warp drive.
