Description
Now your farming Cims can have some extra water for those thirsty crops, or maybe your suburbian Cims just want a nice place to take a walk. This irrigation ditch is a plop anywhere building that appears in the water menu.

STATS:
Construction Cost: 400
Upkeep: 40
Water: 64 m3

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: it is highly recommended to use a terrain mod and flatten out the area where you want your new irrigation ditches to be.
If you don't flatten the area then the ditch will seem to float in a most peculiar way.

If you like these designs and want more puzzle pieces for this set then leave a comment below or in my thread on the official forums.

This still working?

I believe I copied a water tower asset and just replaced the model. so it inherited all the functions of the tower. it actually provides a little bit of water and needs to be hooked up to pipes or it will get that annoying icon. it was an experiment.

How do you get the irrigation to pop up in the water section. I have not been able to get it up to use it. It popped up under RICO, but it messes up the game when I try to turn it on in there. and it shows in the content manager that it is turned on. I have After Dark and Snowfall both. Thank you.

Hi,

Just wondering, Did you ever update these to be below ground level ?

Update: there is a new tutorial to change the UI category of one asset, so you can import your model onto the Japanese Garden template, and then change the UI category so it shows up in the water facilities menu. No need of my poor code.

Sorry for the chaos. I have messed around with the modtool and some sample codes by other modders and came up with that code which just worked but not without side effects.

I believe that the once you quit and reload the game, the other parks will be normal again.

I think you only changed one file permanently, which is the asset you saved after loading the code.

thanks Sims Firehouse, but, when I tried manipulating the data to that degree I ended up with ALL my parks in the water menu. maybe I did something wrong, but, I would prefer to wait for CO to release more user-friendly tools. The mod tool is too powerful for me to handle at the moment. I will stick with Hex editing. if the answer can't be hex edited, then I don't want to mess with it.

right now, no one is complaining about the ditches. also, puzzle pieces get tricky when they terrain conform, its easier to get puzzle pieces to match up when the terrain is level anyway. for the time being the ditches will stay as they are, unless I get a lot of requests to change it.

wow, just wow. I hope the terrain-issues can get solved? :) interesting story to the sunken plaza... I had no idea WHY. That...workshop-selection

Here's a code which you can activate in ModTools before you import:
http://pastebin.com/ZbWHTR5U
Basically it changes Japanese Garden's m_buildingAI and m_class to those used by Water Tower.
This way you can have terrain conforming ditch that is categorized as a water facility (shows up in water menu)

What this means is that I can now make irrigation ditches below ground level and allow them to work with the terrain...HOWEVER! this means that the ditch will no longer appear in the water menu...I would have to make the ditch as a park instead of a water tower. with Hex editing I can still make it plop anywhere.

So, question to the fans: do you want the ditch in the water menu that is flat and does not conform to terrain OR do you want a below ground ditch that conforms to terrain but is a park?
