Description
BYZANTIUM (ALEXIOS I)
UA: KOMNENIAN RESTORATION
A 5-turn Golden Age begins upon the outbreak of war with a major Civilization, the length increasing for each of your cities under their control. +100% City Strength during Golden Ages.

UU: LANTERNAS (GALLEASS)
Only Byzantium can build the Lanternas, a unique Galleass. The Lanternas has a chance to withdraw from combat when faced with a melee attack. During Golden Ages, this unit heals 15 damage every turn, even when performing an action, making it most effective during long, drawn-out wars.

UU: MEGAS DOMESTIKOS (GREAT GENERAL)
The unique Megas Domestikos replaces the Great General for Byzantium. In addition to the standard bonuses that the Great General possesses, units that are promoted within two tiles (including the Megas Domestikos' tile) of a Megas Domestikos will receive an additional random promotion for free. If a Golden Age begins and Byzantium has no active Megas Domestikos, it will receive one for free.

PATCHNOTES
  • v6
  • Various standardization tweaks and fixes.
  • UA Golden Age Length is now increased for each city controlled by the opponent.
  • Varangian Guard UU has been replaced with the Megas Domestkios, a Great General replacement.

For some reason, enabling this (Alexios I) mod disables the Michael VIII one.

Oh, hold up. An update around an hour ago. Good to know that you still maintain the good ol' Civ 5 mods. Time to see if that bug is done for.

I have the golden age issue stefvanwoensel mentioned too. Using the Megas Domestikos to build a citadel also just spawns another MD.

I like the Megas Domestikos.

The Megas Domestikos also spawns for other civs than Byzantium. Have mod loaded (but not playing with or against Alexios) and as soon as I get a Golden Age a Megas Domestikos appears in my capital.

I agree with Jarl. Plus, swordsman is a too early unit.

I feel like the Varangian Guard should replace longsword men. Partially because both the R.E.D. and Ethnic units mods have terrible byzantine longsword models.
