Description
Changelog

Historically inaccurate reskin. This is a reskin of all Barbarian (Brittanic, Celtic, Germanic) units, and it applies to all factions using them. All of the changes are visual differences only; no new units or changes to their stats. Most units improve in armour quality as they increase in rank, e.g. Heroic Nobles looks tougher and more experienced than Sword Band.

Like my mod, but hate the trousers? Try this.

This mod complements my new Iceni units and new Suebi units.

Visual Changes:
  • All Units
    • Added boots and trousers (Includes Generals)
    • Armour increases with unit quality (Aside from units that are meant to be unarmoured such as the Painted Ones/Berserkers)
    • Accessories added to units where it they can fit
    • Added additional shield-types
    • Increased number of hair types and made them correspond to similar-coloured facial hair
    • All spear units have access to non-celtic short spears to increase variety
    • Artillery crew have toolkit

  • Brittanic
    • Heroic Nobles/Riders have thick and heavy arm armour
    • Shield increase in quality from small shields to deal

  • Germanic
    • Greater use of pelts
    • Shield increase in quality from small shields to hex

Compatibility

Tested with: Patch 19

As with all of my current and upcoming reskin projects, it only uses vanilla assets to maintain a small size and compatibility. Therefore, it will work with everything except those which edit the variantmeshdefinition files for these units. In the case of a conflict, the last one loaded with override the previous changes.

Postscript

Note: If any factions are not represented here, it's because they're included in one of my other reskins or simply don't fall purely under this reskin's focus.

Problems or requests? Leave me a comment.

To reiterate the opening line: it doesn't prescribe to any notions of historical accuracy. So beware, there is none of that to be found here.

Could you reskin the Painted Warriors of the Iberians? It feels weird they are painted in the face only, they should be torso exposed with warpaint on them red dye, is what they historically used

I'll have a look, but I would appreciate which units are missing their bodies? It would speed up the process if I knew.

It's probably a good thing that I called it historically inaccurate then!

The use of lion's pelt for german units is not historicaly accurate. The king of the animals was really the bear and the lion is not know in nothern europe before the end of the middle ages. And there is a prob with the some hair passing through the bear's head. But globally very nice reskins ! thk's
