Description
Changelog

Historically inaccurate reskin. This is a reskin of all Dacian, Illyrian, and Thracian units (see note at bottom), and it applies to all factions using them. All of the changes are visual differences only; no new units or changes to their stats. Most units improve in armour quality as they increase in rank, e.g. Thracian Nobles looks tougher and more experienced than Thracian Warriors.

Like my mod, but hate the trousers? Try this.

Visual Changes:

All Units
  • Added boots and trousers (Includes Generals)
  • Better units wear nicer clothes
  • Accessories added to units where it they can fit
  • Armour improves with unit quality
  • Greater variety in clothing and armour
  • Added additional bows, axes, and swords available to units
  • Artillery crew carry a toolkit

Compatibility

Tested with: Patch 19

As with all of my current and upcoming reskin projects, it only uses vanilla assets to maintain a small size and compatibility. Therefore, it will work with everything except those which edit the variantmeshdefinition files for these units. In the case of a conflict, the last one loaded with override the previous changes.

Postscript

Note: If any factions are not represented here, it's because they're included in one of my other reskins or simply don't fall purely under this reskin's focus.

Problems or requests? Leave me a comment.

To reiterate the opening line: it doesn't prescribe to any notions of historical accuracy. So beware, there is none of that to be found here.

Do my Thracian generals get manly beards or am i unlucky?

This is actually accurate... I can confirm as a Balkan man myself, we still wear pants to this day, heh

Ironically this is what the Balkan people would have looked like at that time according to roman and Greek sources. Contrary to popular belief, the Balkans are not a warm, sunny, sub-tropical place like the Mediterranean, and the people who lived there dressed accordingly to the environment.

I think all geto-dacians, balkanic tribes had trousers and boots for real.....

Typically because all units have trousers and boots, and because I just rearrange unit gear until there's a thematic consistency. For example, rather than a unit have 5 different types of helmet just because 'history', I give them whatever helmets units of the same type/faction have. I also increase diversity in armour/clothing/shields by adding other faction items that look similar. The oval shields include Numidian, Celtic, and Hellenic shields, because they all look similar yet different.

Why do you say it's historically inaccurate ?
