To the people claiming this is not historically accurate - it is. Early Rome didn't have a national army. It's military force consisted of its citizens whom provided their own equiptment with the excpetion of their shield and sword which was provided by the state.
It wasn't until later, after the Marian reforms that all equiptment was standardised.
