1: Stick together
This is painfully obvious, but for those who still want to know the reason why, it's because the outlines are gone on the survivors. If you get pounced way ahead or way behind in a dark corner, no one can save you. You're basically done for, so try to stick with the team, don't fall back, don't rush ahead, and if you're going shopping (or known as searching for items), let your team know.

2: Use a mic
This connects to the first tip because, as I said before if you get pounced, you're going to have to explain where you are. Unless you have binds or type quickly, a mic is kinda required for realism. But, as I said before, if you stick with the team, everything will be alright.

3. Conserve items
This goes for medkits, pills, shots, grenades, EVERYTHING. I don't really have to go into detail with this except for the health items. Heal when you're black and white, that's it. (unless a tank appears, then you can heal early)

4. Shop
If you skipped number one, you probably won't know what this means.

Shopping - searching for items such as medkits, defibs , pills, shots, weapons, ammo, and more.

Let your team know over the mic or text that you're checking a closet or a room! Do NOT check alone. Get at least one teammate to cover you on the outside so you can have some sort of cover. Please, LET YOUR TEAM KNOW BEFORE SEARCHING.

Now, why is shopping important? On realism, if you die, that's it for you. You cannot respawn in a closet. The only way you can respawn is by defib or waiting until the next chapter, but let's face it, not a lot of people like waiting. So, the best option is to keep your eyes peeled for a defib.

5 Aim for the head
On realism, a bullet to the head kills a zombie instantly. Anywhere else will just do less damage or stumble them. So you're better off just by aiming for the head for the whole game.

Fun Fact: The SMG actually pops the head of an infected :D
