Description:

Out of all my mining ships, this is my favorite. Wait, I know what you're thinking. Is the drill head on a rotor? Why yes it is! Does that mean doom, death and explosions? Nope, we tried everything, EVERYTHING imaginable to rip the head off and we couldn't do it. It works! Unless you directly crash it into something solid at high velocity..... obviously.

What makes this one stand out is the large cargo capacity, that it is outfitted with a jumpdrive, medbay and the speed at which it drills.

No, you cannot make a tunnel with it through an entire asteroid but then again, why would you want to? You take what you need and move on. By the time you have gathered everything you need, you have the resources to build anything in the game.

This ship is also made for long range distance drilling, which means that once all the asteroids in your current position have been exhausted, this is the ship to go out for long range mining operations.

It has no defensive capabilities but if you really want to there are a few places a turret could be placed. Personally I prefer to use the gravity engines as soon as something annoying comes too close. That's right, it has gravity engines that work as well. They are also a treat and I left them uncalibrated because of the objects bug that many are experiencing. Simply turn them on and they will shove all floating rocks far far away and you don't have to worry about flying into them.

When mining, I highly recommend doing it at a slow speed, don't go faster than 1meter pr second. Ideally I go at 0,3m/s and although it sounds slow on paper, it is very fast. Dig half of the ship into the ore vein you are gathering and move one. You will have collected hundreds of thousands of ore.

How to mine:

Use the glass bridge on top, get in the flight seat, all the controls are there. Start the drills, start the rotor and the rest is fairly easy.
Don't worry about turning the ship with the mouse very fast, it wont break anything.

PS: Stone dump is OFF by default on this ship. I highly recommend turning it on however.

Nevermind the gravdrive comment, i did a bit of digging and found out that i was a bit late to the party with grav drives as they have been removed

Hey! I have been trying this out in my creative world and years have not been kind to it, as some stuff doesnt seam likes its working, is it ment to be using the gravdrive to make its way into the asteroid or am i as a player ment to attempt to keep it at 0,3m/s? Love these styled ships i would aprishate greatly if its possible to update this :)

Hi Reddawg, I have experienced this glitch myself. From what I have gathered, it is an actual glitch in the game current, where sometimes things on rotors may get their own ship designation when attempting to build one through a blueprint.

It is possible to build the rotor head sepperatly with another projector but attaching the two may prove a bit more difficult than actually expected. Again, due to the glitchy attach mechanic on advanced rotors.

To get a blueprint, I suggest loading the ship in a testmap, cutting the front off and saving the actual rotorhead as a individual blueprint from creative mode. Should take you less than a minute :)

Looks like the blueprint fails to show the mining head, all it ends at is the rotor. Looks like the rest of the ship is projected fine. Its possible the mining head might require a 2nd projector specifically for it, in which case, we'll need a blueprint for the head.

I have a rotor mining ship too its cool and use less drill bit. It works ok but i think my drill is too large and sometime it destroy some drill bit. I really like the way your ship looks ill try it!
