Description
SINCE KEEN "FIXED" CARGO SHIPS, THEY WILL NO LONGER SPAWN IN ANY GRAVITY WELL. I'M LEAVING THIS MOD UP SO THOSE OF YOU WHO LIKE TO PLAY AROUND WITH IT CAN STILL TINKER WITH IT AS YOU WILL.

Wish there was a reason to have all that Dakka?

Now you got it.

This is a mod I made for our private dedicated server. It uses the cargo ships spawning mechanic to spawn custom drones with that will hunt you down wherever you are... be it moon, planet or in space.

This drone will then spawn appropriate NPC ships adapted to your location to attack you.
It will find you, shoot you up, then leave.

It is easily countered either by hunting it down or trying to keep it at range. It can hurt however if you leave it to do it's thing. Guard your mining rig!

I made this mod balanced for our survival enviroment- The ships leave very little or no wreckage, and have a failsafe timer to self destruct (leaving no wreckage) if the server fails to delete them. Even if you do manage to capture one, the resources available are minimal... it's not a viable alternative to mining.
So, very little impact on simspeed that we've noticed, and only the occasional cleanup neccessary, far less than keen stock anyway.

This mod shouldn't have any issues with any other mod, it uses all vanilla assets.

You NEED to have cargo ships ENABLED by editing the sandbox.sbc file in your world save and changing the line

Your world save sbc file (sandbox.sbc) is located in

\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves\**(steamid)**\**yoursave**

This location changes based on your steamID. If you're looking at a funky number, you're in the right place. Look for your world save folder in there.

THESE SHIPS CAN BE TOUGH TO COUNTER WHEN FIRST STARTING OUT.

--------------------SPAWN FREQUENCY----------------------------

We keep our GlobalEvents.sbc set to fire these things off every six hours or so. Your mileage may vary, as I haven't balanced these for a non-mature server. The stock settings are a little more than I'd wish to handle.

When I find a decent balance, I may include a copy of my GlobalEvents.sbc in the mod.

To change the spawn frequency to your liking, find your GlobalEvents.sbc in
\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Data
and edit the lines:

<MinActivationTimeMs>780000</MinActivationTimeMs>
<MaxActivationTimeMs>10200000</MaxActivationTimeMs>
<FirstActivationTimeMs>300000</FirstActivationTimeMs>

An hour is 3600000 miliseconds.

If all else fails, you can always run.




This is my first public mod release. I've seen quite a few people asking for something like this, and we love it on our server.

KNOWN ISSUES:
Occasionally the drone will just eat dirt, because autopilot in SE is retarded. Still working on that. It's about a 5% chance. Leaves little wreckage. Working on this.

Occasionally the drone will spawn so close to the surface that it will disengage before reaching close enough to launch drones, again, the autopilot is retarded. Working on this.


TODO LIST:

Planetary spawns are stock keen ships. Need to change them to keep with my "less wreckage, more simspeed" rule

More diverse space and moon spawns.

Cleaner code in the scripts.


Constructive feedback appreciated. I'd like to find a decent spawn rate that's a good starting point for everyone.
Again, we use this on our dedicated survival server for weeks and it's worked wonderfully so far.

i play with this mod and when spawn any mk3 killer going to me but mk3 spawn gunship or other drones, dont come to me..stay very quiet

You should update this, I like the idea of an onslaught of drones coming to mess you up.

I recently made a Reddit post (https://redd.it/7zn4fr) about PvE in Space Engineers including your Cargo Ships mod, and I would like to publish a Spawn Chance Rebalance mod that 'patches' the spawn frequencies to align them with the current vanilla ranges. It will not include any of your assets, only a modified SpawnGroups (and GlobalEvents / RespawnShips if relevant) file, but I wanted to check that you have no objections to me releasing such a 'patch' mod?

@starwolf your mod is causing me to crash a lot when connecting to my dedicated server. But it is not affecting all players. Only myself, and a few other players. here is a small part of the crash report. Let me know if you want the full log file. - Thread: 1 -> Spawn group initialization: spawn group has zero frequency

@dark when planets were first introduced the cargo ship feature was disabled because they would crash into planets, so the only way to get them was to go into the sanbox file.They fixed this awhile ago and now its back.

Or you can Click on your save from the load menu, and Click EDIT setting...
Advance Options and click the Check box for "Cargo ships" + Drones.
Only Reason to Edit the File is if you manual changed something in the sbc file before. Like the inventory to say x5... as it will reset to x1.. if you edit the advance options.. But chances are if you already edited the files once you already know this..

@grimard when i tested it it didnt appear to work, but the planetary cargo ships mod has good documentation, so i might try and implement the two together,although i dont know if i would be allowed to distribute it if it did work.

I have an issue with that mod only attacking the host of the world. The drones should attack all players in my world not just me.
