Characters Overhauled (Grand Campaign)

Description
Disclamer: This mod is an older version. You can find the most recent version here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=662922852

I only keep this mod online for the players who are currently doing a campaign with this mod. I will not be updating this version of the mod (it would require 2x the work amount since i changed a lot of back-end stuff). If you are starting a new campaign please make use of the mod provided in the link above.

I made this mod because I felt that the leveling of your generals and governors is not engaging.

Do you want to specialize a governor for managing border provinces with public order, controlling the immigrant population and containing religious uprisings? You can actually do that now.
Do you maybe want him to boost your main province and provide it with additional taxation, wealth, sanitation or food? Well you can do that too.

These are only two examples which are possible due to the overhauled skill system which is described in further detail below.

The aim of this mod:
- Provide the player with meaningful skill choices for your generals and governors.

There are four important parts to this mod:

1) Removed the old skillweb system and integrated a skill cluster system to make it easier to specialize OR generalize.

2) Upped the amount of skills per character from 12 to 15 and added sub-faction(western & eastern germanic tribes for example) specific skill trees.

3) EVERY skill from the three skill clusters now comes with a bonus for generals as well as for governors and is actually useful.

4) Reworked the benefits of Authority, Zeal and Cunning for both generals and governors. This will help to further mold your characters into a specific role rather than generic "more of everything".

Fantastic mod, love it!

@Cioby I am sorry if that caused you any trouble. Unfortunatly there is no such mechanic as refunding skillpoints possible thats why i posted the "warning" that you have to hire new generals/armies if you try this mod in an onging campaign.

Furthermore i would like to point out that this mod here is outdated (as specified above). If you would like to check out the up-to-date version (with bugfixes) follow this link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=662922852

If you activate the mod after your generals already leveled up, they have 0 skills selected. And you don't refund the points. Took me a while to realize and fucked up my save. If you could set the number of points to the level of the hero or just reset and refund points once the mod is used for the first time, it would be great. Until then I'm going to run around with some lvl 10 generals that are complete garbage

@ littleduckie Yeah you are 100% right on this one. As i was playtesting i realized that it is now a lot easier to maintain public order in newly aquired provinces etc. Unfortunatly i came up with nothing to compensate the AI for this "issue", besides mods who up the difficulty tend to not be downloaded much anyways :). I am glad that you enjoy this one. If you have any further suggestions i am all ears.

1 very small comment, is that one thing your mod does is probably make the game a little easier as a result because it is now possible for players to have a much more optimal set up (generals/governers/traditions) than before, which doesn't extend to the AI as much (in the sense that they'll not make optimal choices around your changes...). Not a big problem, and not really something that will stop my desire to use your mod. The option to raise the difficulty of the campaign to compensate is always there :)

@Bloodfist: BTW although my first post about save game compatibility had a somewhat critical tone, I didn't mean to be critical overall. In fact, I want to express my appreciation for the series of mods you've created including this one that does these overhauls :) I've also uprated your updated mod.

Disclaimer: I have just uploaded a newer version of this mod (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=662922852) . The reason why i could not just update this mod right here is because i used some age of charlemange keys and strings in my original version. Since players without AoC could not make use of it i had to rework the whole mod with a different approach. What you get will stay the same its just backend stuff which has changed. Well thats technically not 100% correct since the newer version of the mod also reworks army traditions of all factions.

If you are starting a new campaign please use the mod provided in the link above. Have fun guys and please let me know if you think something should be changed, nerfed, buffed etc.
