Touhou - Aran's Yukari Civ

Description
Extracted from my Touhou Civ Pack. A new civ that tries to be interesting and fun to play as, using Touhou characters.

The AI will not pick this civilization, so you want the AI to play this civ please select it for the AI in the Advanced Setup.

v3.0.3

So, you want to play as an aggressive civ with tons of tactical flexibility? Yukari is for you. Honestly she’s my favorite. The playstyle Yukari excels most at is aggressive expansion. RNG decides to spawn you on the North Pole squished between 2 civs and an ocean below? It doesn’t matter. Once you get those borders going you can really boost your army’s core strength. But, there’s a catch! Do you really want to endlessly take cities? You’ll lose those border bonuses! Don’t go out conquering everything mindlessly. Border gore has never been so much fun. Also, remember that Yukari gets airports quite early. You know those pesky civs that built all the wonders before you and had stupidly high scores, but were too far away to kill? Not anymore! Two front wars are possible earlier in the game now, and when you get those gaps, be prepared for some rapid redeployment. Inland city under attack? Gap your battleship in! Your options are vast and potential endless, the very definition of being the Youkai of Boundaries.

===================================================================================

Formless Domain of the Boundary: Yukari Yakumo (Border)

Civ Focus: Unconventional Mobility / Aggressive Expansion

Trait - Great Youkai of the Boundaries
+ All units: +2% Attack and Defense for every 3 tiles that border another nation
----+ This strength up updates at the end of the turn and rounds up

--------------------------------------------

UB - Gap Armory [Armory]

A building that is more expensive to build and maintain while granting less experience for units, but grants land units the Gap Portals promotion and allows you to grab tiles faster. It is unlocked at Physics instead of Steel. Does not require a Barracks to build. Reduces culture required for tiles by 15%.

+ Cost: 320

+ TileCultureCost: -15%
+ Exp: +7

--------+ A 5 space jump from friendly territory

--------------------------------------------

UB - Gap Generator [Airport]

This is a very early airport, unlocking at Electricity rather than at Radar. Quite expensive to build and maintain. Does not grant any tourism bonuses until Radar, and even then its bonus is small. Instead, it rallies the populace, increasing happiness by 2 and spreads the Border Youkai’s influence rapidly, reducing culture required for tiles by an additional 50%. Its otherworldly appearance and aura inspires creative thought, increasing culture and great people generation slightly. When you actually get Radar, it generates slightly more culture and a bit of Tourism.

+ Maintain: 6
+ Prereq: Electricity
+ Happiness: +2
+ Culture: +10%
+ TileCultureCost: -50%
+ GreatPpl: +10%

Currently playing but I have a question. For the unique ability for borders touching other nations borders does that include city states or just civs?

This mod is lame. The mod creator didn't give me any good buildings or units, and my trait doesn't help me that much. I should be dominating right now!

Would you add a decisions and events for your civs?

After weeks of testing last year, I never was able to get her to feel fun to play. Since I only publish stuff if I had fun, I decided not to upload Nitori until I could overhaul her mechanics. After reading through these comments I might get back into civ 5 over the winter and finally upload it. Maybe I'll finally try balancing Yukari too lol. Either way sorry for the delay and hopefully there will be a Nitori 3.0 after so long.

I saw this some time ago and thought "that's cool", downloaded and let the AI play it while I tried other mods, but didn't play with it until now.
Huge map, 22 civs, 41 CS, just get the nice spots for borders, capture some other cities and snowball from 40% combat bonus to almost 300%. Didn't win by domination because I had so much money I could buy all the CS 1 turn before the world leader vote.
OK when the AI uses it, OP as **** in human hands (not complaining btw).

Also, in a game where I went full warmonger and there was an AI Yukari, I almost died when she told me:
"You like seeing animated models kill each other a bit too much for a sane person, unless you hace animations turned off. In that case you are even more messed up."
And tes, animations were off xD

I really enjoyed your Yukari civ mod, i ended up getting a 310% attack and defence increase on a huge map against 22 ai. It made playing agressive more intresting, not wanting to destroy a civ entierly so I could recive that damage boost. Thanks for makeing this mod it was lots of fun.:SisterRom:

I like the concept with her new trait, and I think that when it gets rolling it works very well and can be rewarding to aim to annoy the AI and be aggressive with settling, but then the player part of me that's been using the old trait since you made it misses the indirect fire bonus from the old trait. Both traits are good in their own way, but the indirect fire has an earlier effect that persists through the rest of the game while the new trait has a much larger effect in the late game. That's just my oppinion though, it holds little value. I really enjoy using your Touhou mods together with the rest of the Touhou mods from other creators. I think you've done a great job with them!

I wanted Yukari to have a trait that tied in with her border ability. This would allow her to take advantage of her early airport and teleporting units, giving her great map control while simultaneously increasing the efficiency of her units.

It also gives the player a reason not to mindlessly conquer or raze every enemy city, because that may decrease their border coverage and hence their combat bonus.

@aranicar
Out of curiosity, what made you change the trait ability from what it was in the trio pack?
