Description
Difficulty*: Logical: 7/10 Skill: 7/10 Creativity: 7/10

Built for the "Retract" competition of the P2LC Group.

User reviews:

"Shh... I don't play portal anymore" - Requiemsoul

"De toutes facons, ils vont rien comprendre parce que je parle francais..." - Polux

"MORE. SIGNAGE." - Toncica

Thanks Polux for the early tests (and for breaking it again... and again!)

*Difficulty is scaled for experimented players, 3/10 matches campain difficulty. Logical is about number of "elementary" steps (portal, pressing a button, jumping,..) you will need to achieve a key stage in puzzle; Skill is about firing portal while jumping, timed moves,.. what is linked to player's moves; ninja's skills (cube jumping, bunny hop,...) is set to 11/10. At last Creativity sets "elementary step" difficulty; high creativity means you will need to use elements in an unusual way (rotate a cube by walking on it, getting height using light bridge or funnel spamming on a white wall,...).

Fair enough. But take solace in the fact that nobody else will watch my demo anyway :)

I agree with that, but the "sad" part is that I really liked the fact you had to use the cube once under the bridge, once over the bridge . Anyways, I'll not fix it, unless I find a good and elegant way to do it. without destroying whole map :p

Then why not let it stand? I mean, I was glad to see the intended solution was different, since the execution of that move is tricky i.e. you can easily end up destroying the weighted cube or getting stuck in the door and would probably have grumbled if that had been intended. However, alternate solutions, if they are not easier than the intended one (and not 100% ninja) can be the sign of the richness of a map rather than a flaw. It rewards alternative ways of thinking.

Well, indeed, this is a little shortcut I'll need to fix ^^' (and it's quite easy to do.. if I can find my beemod again :/). Clever idea you had in 2nd demo, didn't think about that and I don't really know if I can avoid it without changing the whole thing.. huh :p

[edit] Done for the cube shortcut :)

Thanks for the demos, I'll have a look

PS: In fact I would be a bit sad to see them go, I worked hard to find them :)

I splitted in 3 as I did not think you would be interested in my retries. 2 comments: 1. In the first part I do the climb move I mentionned, I realize now it is totally unnecessary at this point, however I do it again in part 3 where it allows to bypass part of the intended solution. 2. I skipped a bit in between part 1 and 2 since for this bit it was just as intended.

Again I do not mean that this should necessarily be fixed, as you will see there are not necessarily easy moves and could even be seen as overcomplicating.

PS: sry for reposting, forgot a spoiler tag.

I'll see whether I fancy doing a demo, but whether or not these are things to be "fixed" is up to you - these are not necessarily flaws but alternatives that are not always simpler.

Well now I do see your profile (fellow Belgian) so it must have been something there. Weird.

Anyway 1 main things I did differently: It is possible to exit the cube spawn area through the highest poral through a combo of jump/grab the cube into a funnel, funnel climb, then siwtch to light bridge. After that it is possible to respawn and remote control the cube from the pressure plate and have the cube fall into your lap with ever leaving the plate . The second part was nice but the first slightly ninja, more complicated than necessary up to you to see if you want to forbid it.

There were a few other things (I managed to sneak in the enclosed area without destryong the reflector cube so did not need to go grab another one) , but perhaps this is getting too complicated for words. A video would be better, but I'm crap at it (what software would you recommend?)
