Fair enough. But take solace in the fact that nobody else will watch my demo anyway :)

I agree with that, but the "sad" part is that I really liked the fact you had to use the cube once under the bridge, once over the bridge . Anyways, I'll not fix it, unless I find a good and elegant way to do it. without destroying whole map :p
Dr. Strangelove 21 May, 2017 @ 4:25am
Then why not let it stand? I mean, I was glad to see the intended solution was different, since the execution of that move is tricky i.e. you can easily end up destroying the weighted cube or getting stuck in the door and would probably have grumbled if that had been intended. However, alternate solutions, if they are not easier than the intended one (and not 100% ninja) can be the sign of the richness of a map rather than a flaw. It rewards alternative ways of thinking.

Well, indeed, this is a little shortcut I'll need to fix ^^' (and it's quite easy to do.. if I can find my beemod again :/). Clever idea you had in 2nd demo, didn't think about that and I don't really know if I can avoid it without changing the whole thing.. huh :p

[edit] Done for the cube shortcut :)

Thanks for the demos, I'll have a look
Dr. Strangelove 19 May, 2017 @ 10:49am
PS: In fact I would be a bit sad to see them go, I worked hard to find them :)

I splitted in 3 as I did not think you would be interested in my retries. 2 comments: 1. In the first part I do the climb move I mentionned, I realize now it is totally unnecessary at this point, however I do it again in part 3 where it allows to bypass part of the intended solution. 2. I skipped a bit in between part 1 and 2 since for this bit it was just as intended.

Again I do not mean that this should necessarily be fixed, as you will see there are not necessarily easy moves and could even be seen as overcomplicating.

PS: sry for reposting, forgot a spoiler tag.

I'll see whether I fancy doing a demo, but whether or not these are things to be "fixed" is up to you - these are not necessarily flaws but alternatives that are not always simpler.
Dr. Strangelove 19 May, 2017 @ 3:31am
Well now I do see your profile (fellow Belgian) so it must have been something there. Weird.

Anyway 1 main things I did differently: It is possible to exit the cube spawn area through the highest poral through a combo of jump/grab the cube into a funnel, funnel climb, then siwtch to light bridge. After that it is possible to respawn and remote control the cube from the pressure plate and have the cube fall into your lap with ever leaving the plate . The second part was nice but the first slightly ninja, more complicated than necessary up to you to see if you want to forbid it.

There were a few other things (I managed to sneak in the enclosed area without destryong the reflector cube so did not need to go grab another one) , but perhaps this is getting too complicated for words. A video would be better, but I'm crap at it (what software would you recommend?)
Talisac  [author] 19 May, 2017 @ 3:30am
I'm using fraps to record them, but there is an easier way if you don't want to go into video things: use console and record a demo with "record insertanamehere" command. This will save a replay into portal2 directory, and you can send me this if you think some of these moves should be fixed. I'm interested of course, but I stopped portal 2 long time ago and I'm not even sure I'll have time to fix something, so don't do it except if you really don't mind wasting some time for me xD (and thanks again for commenting and sharing this unexpected way, I'm not sure to understand the way you did but I need to go back in the map before)
Talisac  [author] 19 May, 2017 @ 2:06am
Thanks for playing, yes I'm quite interested if you found something very dfferent and bipassing main path. And yes I have lots of other maps, that's weird you can't get them (didn't change anything in my profile's settings). I set it again in "public", give it an other try?
Dr. Strangelove 18 May, 2017 @ 5:14am
Nice puzzle, quite challenging. I did a few things differently from your posted solution, I don't know if you are interested since the map is old, but if you are let me know and I'll give the details.

Do you have other maps? If yes could you post links because your private profile does not exaclty make it easy to find them....
Talisac  [author] 3 Jun, 2016 @ 1:49am
Thanks for comments! Glad you like the map, I'm quite satisfied with the way it went and glad to see you are too ^^

@Toncica: that's a cool quote indeed, but it won't work with the title play on words :)
toncica 1 Jun, 2016 @ 2:21pm
First time I played the updated map, elegant fixes for earlier problems, well done. Was stumped for a bit when it took me a while to realize that the glass panel is non-standard sized. Awesome puzzle, very challenging for its size. Favorited!

Suggested toncica quote: "Every single step requires significant brain activity." :)

Now i see the intended way, very good indeed, nice work.
Talisac  [author] 1 May, 2016 @ 1:06pm
I'm currently fixing the map but during vote stage, I'm not supposed to edit the map sadly...
Talisac  [author] 1 May, 2016 @ 10:54am
That final part is perfect, but apparently you found a shortcut indeed (and I'm starting to understand how you did... how stupid I'm -_- aaarg).
dire.fcs 1 May, 2016 @ 9:18am
Ok i played again and this time your update killed my previous solution (in which i had to use every element); now i found a shortcut(?) because i never use the 2nd catcher nor the panel in the ceiling above the button that triggers the laser: dem [drive.google.com] of that final part.

Talisac never disappoints. A very ingenious and hard map with very few elements. Very nice visually. A must-play and favorite.
