-----------

This mode aims to make Audiosurf 2 easier, harder, more fun, and more competitive all at the same time. Scores on a single song can range from 16,000 to 3,000,000! Without a puzzle grid, and a unique powerup, you can focus on what really matters: collect and dodge. As my first mod (ever) it's probably not the beset thing in the world, but it seems you all like it, and I had fun making it.

-= Gameplay =-

COLOR BLOCKS & SPIKES - Color Blocks and Spikes are score instantly upon collection. Colors are worth 10pts, and spikes are worth none.

MULTIPLIER - When a Color or Powerup Block is collected, your multiplier will increase by 1. If you miss a Color or Powerup Block, however, your multiplier will be reset to 1. The current multiplier is displayed in blue under the score in the top right.

POWER BLOCKS - Powerup Blocks are white and appear in groups of 10. Collecting a full set will grant you Powerup State. Other than that, they work the same as normal color blocks.

POWERED STATE - During Powerup State, you will not gain or lose multiplier, and color blocks are worth 100pts instead of 10pts. The Powerup State will last for 10 seconds, starting when the last block in a set is collected. NOTE that Powerup State does not grant immunity to losing Stealth Bonus or True Hero bonus.

SCORING - Each Color Block is worth 10pts normally and 100pts in Powerup State. When a block is collected, it will grant the current base points (10 normally, 100 if powerup) times the multiplier

-= Bonuses & Stats =-

BEST MULTIPLIER - This does not grant bonus points. Displays the highest multiplier achieved in the run.

BLOCKS/SPIKES/POWER BLOCKS HIT - These do not grant bonus points. Displays the amount of each block type hit versus the total number in the song.

SNEAKY HERO - 20% score bonus. Granted when no Spikes were hit.

ENERGETIC HERO - 10% score bonus. Granted when all Power Blocks were collected.

TRUE HERO - 30% score bonus. Granted when all Color Blocks were collected. Plus you get to call yourself a badass XD

-= Skinning =-

For your skin to work with hero, this is not neccisary. However, if you use a custom skin and are having trouble with seeing the power blocks, or you just don't like the way they look, this information will make skinning hero easy. NOTE that I am assuming you have at least base level knolage of skinning/lua and I will not be including information about either. See this guide for help on making a skin:

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=413812198

Anyways, how to skin hero:

Like most powerups, hero using the SetBlocks function to load block models. Because of this, hero is skinnable. The white block model is set under powerups and has the name "heropower".

-= Known Issues & Bugs =-

- Score is capped at 16,777,215. This can't be fixed without lowering the amount of score earned from all sources.

My only complaint is that power blocks are too important, if you miss just a single one your score has nose dived so much that you might as well restart

If you haven't already, I think you should take a look at the 1,000,000 mod by me and Searous. As the mod name suggests the max score on any song is always 1,000,000; meaning that your final score will always be a rough reflection of your skill at the particular song that you surfed in it. The general idea is more or less the same as this mod; collect all blocks and evade all spikes, except total tally is what matters instead of max combo and final combo (which aren't even counted for anything in 1,000,000). Power blocks still come in groups of 10, you still need to collect all 10 in order to get the bonus, and the power block bonuses are more important than normal blocks for your tally + thus final score. Try the 1,000,000 mod out with a few songs (hopefully including a few tougher songs as well as some easier songs) and let us know what you think of it~ (;

Only complaints that I can think of is that the final score cannot go over 16,777,215 for some reason, I'm guessing it's just the game not you because they never though anyone would be able to score that high. And a good addition to the mod would be like Ninja where it tells you if you've hit a spike would be very helpful :D

Sorry for the late responses, I don't check this too often.

@JakeRage
Thank you :) Since you like it so much, do you have any suggestions for improvement/problems? I've gotten much better at programming since I originally created this, plus I'd love to hear your feadback.

@Hallow
I'm sorry you feel like I stole your idea. :( The concept for my mod is loosly based on Guitar Hero (hense the name) and the mono gamemode. I can promise you that I have never heard of nor seen your work, for what it's worth.

Since our mods appear so similar, I'd be willing to work with you to improve Hero. Alternativlly, an alternate mod.

All in all, thank you all for the support, and I hope you're enjoying my mod :)

Dude, *this* mod has been up for a year and a half.

Hey thanks for stealing my mod

because i was totally actually in the process of finishing it and releasing a full version rather than the beta that's been up for a year and a half

Best mod, you've converted me from Ninja xD. This is how audiosurf should be :D +Sub

I absolutely give it a try, but i have problems with "easier" variation, what are the chances with the harder one. :D But i'll try it.
Searous  [author] 14 Sep, 2016 @ 6:47pm
@Overlord Rei If you liked this, you might want to check out a very similar mode called 1,000,000. It was made by me and a fan of this mode. It's a more difficult precision based verion of hero. Also, I've been thinking about a puzzle "pickup-all-the-blocks-with-no-grid" mode ;) Might want to keep an eye out for that, if you're interseted. Anyways, thanks for your feadback! I'm happy to see that people are enjoying my work, as I tend to think everything I make is terrible XD

This mod is awesome, i was looking for something like this, just picking the blocks and not thinking about the grid.
I gonna use this mod forever. I just have to git gud at picking 'em all. I want to see the hero bonus and tell how big badass i am to myself. :D
