My only complaint is that power blocks are too important, if you miss just a single one your score has nose dived so much that you might as well restart

If you haven't already, I think you should take a look at the 1,000,000 mod by me and Searous. As the mod name suggests the max score on any song is always 1,000,000; meaning that your final score will always be a rough reflection of your skill at the particular song that you surfed in it. The general idea is more or less the same as this mod; collect all blocks and evade all spikes, except total tally is what matters instead of max combo and final combo (which aren't even counted for anything in 1,000,000). Power blocks still come in groups of 10, you still need to collect all 10 in order to get the bonus, and the power block bonuses are more important than normal blocks for your tally + thus final score. Try the 1,000,000 mod out with a few songs (hopefully including a few tougher songs as well as some easier songs) and let us know what you think of it~ (;

Only complaints that I can think of is that the final score cannot go over 16,777,215 for some reason, I'm guessing it's just the game not you because they never though anyone would be able to score that high. And a good addition to the mod would be like Ninja where it tells you if you've hit a spike would be very helpful :D

Sorry for the late responses, I don't check this too often.

@JakeRage
Thank you :) Since you like it so much, do you have any suggestions for improvement/problems? I've gotten much better at programming since I originally created this, plus I'd love to hear your feadback.

@Hallow
I'm sorry you feel like I stole your idea. :( The concept for my mod is loosly based on Guitar Hero (hense the name) and the mono gamemode. I can promise you that I have never heard of nor seen your work, for what it's worth.

Since our mods appear so similar, I'd be willing to work with you to improve Hero. Alternativlly, an alternate mod.

All in all, thank you all for the support, and I hope you're enjoying my mod :)

Dude, *this* mod has been up for a year and a half.

Hey thanks for stealing my mod

because i was totally actually in the process of finishing it and releasing a full version rather than the beta that's been up for a year and a half

Best mod, you've converted me from Ninja xD. This is how audiosurf should be :D +Sub

I absolutely give it a try, but i have problems with "easier" variation, what are the chances with the harder one. :D But i'll try it.
Searous  [author] 14 Sep, 2016 @ 6:47pm
@Overlord Rei If you liked this, you might want to check out a very similar mode called 1,000,000. It was made by me and a fan of this mode. It's a more difficult precision based verion of hero. Also, I've been thinking about a puzzle "pickup-all-the-blocks-with-no-grid" mode ;) Might want to keep an eye out for that, if you're interseted. Anyways, thanks for your feadback! I'm happy to see that people are enjoying my work, as I tend to think everything I make is terrible XD
Overlord Rei 1 Sep, 2016 @ 2:02pm
This mod is awesome, i was looking for something like this, just picking the blocks and not thinking about the grid.
I gonna use this mod forever. I just have to git gud at picking 'em all. I want to see the hero bonus and tell how big badass i am to myself. :D

I wish this was more popular so when I play there is a score board. When I first saw audiosurf I thought it was: collect and dodge not some puzzle game so I found this.

Great mod 10/10

@LadFromWales Blocks aren't generated randomly. If you play the same s ong twice, the o nly ifference is t he lane they are in. This featre exists in all other default mods, and I didn't remove it because it makes playing the same song twice more interesting. Also, power blocks appear in the same place. Ever 100 blocks or so. If you've noticed that sometimes power blocks spawn with lest t han 10 in theris set, I am aware of this, and will release an update to fix it at some point.
LadFromWales 24 May, 2016 @ 12:20pm
I have noticed while repeating the same songs (to obtain perfection!) that the blocks are not in exactly the same place every time, and the powerup blocks are sometimes in other places, allowing them to be hit easier sometimes than others if they happen to occur during slower parts of songs. It is impossible to 'learn' the track as the blocks don't stay in the same place. I am unsure if this an inherent AS2 thing or if it is being influenced by my skin. I use Hyperdrive 2.
Searous  [author] 23 May, 2016 @ 1:20pm
@LadFromWales Thank you for your suggestion. It will be considered.
LadFromWales 23 May, 2016 @ 9:38am
I feel that this needs to be a tiiiiiny bit faster at responding to 'energetic' parts of songs. It goes fast enough during hectic parts of songs but I'd like it to be a little more twitchy during buildups etc. As in currently a beating drum doesn't really cause any change in speed or a bump/valley in the track.
More hills and valleys like AS1 would be awesome too :)

@The Paper Pilot
Mono is too luck-based to feel rewarding, plus sometimes skipping a color block or hitting a spike is better for your score in the long run in mono. Hero mode, however, you always want to collect normal blocks and always want to dodge spikes ^^ Is that what you're referring to when you say that hero makes mono feel like a mod? ;P (;
The Paper Pilot 22 May, 2016 @ 12:01pm
This gamemode plays so naturally in audiosurf it makes mono feel like a mod.
BARGHEST 20 May, 2016 @ 12:34pm
@Searous I would be honored to be showcased and most definately will continue enjoying this wonderful mod ^.^
Searous  [author] 19 May, 2016 @ 10:35pm
@Aotyrek Thanks for the support and the awesome video! Actually, in the video you liked, you encountered a bug I hadn't seen untill now. You never missed a block, but and one point you didn't get powerup when you should have. Furthermore, there were only 58 power blocks in the song you played. I'll be working to fix this, and I will update the post to include the information I mentioned here.

Thank you for accidentaly showcasing a bug I didn't know existed XD I hope you continue enjoying the mod!

Also, would you mind if I showcased your video on the workshop page?
BARGHEST 19 May, 2016 @ 12:52pm
This is amazing; I love all the bonuses at the end along with showing how well you did with your stats such as blocks hit/missed etc, this is pretty much the gamemode I felt Audiosurf 2 was missing, well done!

Also I can wait to compete with other people on the popular songs, gonna be lit!
