Running with iFactions [v1.35][v0.9]

Description
This mod re-skins all the factions to Blue/Red/Grey with some other modifications. The main point of this mod is to make it easier to identify enemy targets and be able to tell the difference between the units easily(especially Green vs Brown). Works online as it overwrites core files.

WARNING: Not compatiable with other workshop mods, the textures will overwrite other mods.

Features:
  • Re-skins faction vehicles/soldiers Green/Brown/Grey to Blue/Red/Grey. Over 30+ soldier models per faction!
    • All vanilla soldiers re-textured, with added winter versions.
    • Faction vehicles re-textured.
    • 4 Vest variants for Teir 1/2/3 (Plus winter).
    • 6 elite soldier models for each faction(Plus winter).
    • 2 custom prisoner models for each faction.
  • Modified lobby:
    • All rares in stash
    • Max RP/XP
    • Every vehicle in the radio
    • Added Tank/GunShip to map.
  • Multiplayer 100% SUPPORTED(PvP and Invasion).

ToDo/Plans:
  • Create/Add own custom hud icons.

Installation:
Download isn't available through the workshop as I have no intentions to push updates this way; Use the download link at the bottom for the latest release. This is a retexture mod for multiplayer, or singleplayer, thus the automatic workshop installation will not work, you can still subscribe/favorite/like/share to support this mod if you liked it(also, helps give devs rough estimate of how many people have troubles telling difference between vanilla faction colors).

  1. Extract and Copy "media" folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RunningWithRifles
  2. Say yes to overwrite, if you don't get popup dialog asking to overwrite then you copied the folder to the wrong directory.
  3. To uninstall, verify the game files by going into the game's properties in your steam library. Or backup media folder before installing.

Credits:
- Tummerhore, for his Alternative Icons Mod, changed the color of the icons to match iFactions. Full credit goes to him, I just edited the icon colors. Included license/info within textures folder. Source[www.runningwithrifles.com]

Dips on being camoflaged; i mean Bown-darkgreen? that colour which is almost the same as background ;P
honestly that colour should be changed ^^
also would like a less extreme version of this; this is kinda ruining any immersion you could have, even if it is nice to be able to identify em easily :P

Ok my colorblind brothers, there is a workaround. its not perfect, as it doesnt change the color of the soldiers themselves (im no modder), but it does change the color of the text that pops up when you hover over someone. helps me a lot. unsure if it works in MP. (Following example will change the Brownpants text to blue, and i have only tried with vanilla campaign, although id bet 20 bucks the process is the same for the DLC's)

1) Find the "packages" folder in your RWR directory. (For me, its "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RunningWithRifles\media\packages")

2) Navigate to the folders "classic", then "factions". Here there are several files. Amongst them are Green, Brown, and Grey. All .XML files.

3) Right Click the .XML corresponding to the color you want to change (I changed Brown, so it was brown.xml), and select "edit" (you could also just open this file in notepad).

4) Near the top, you will see the line <faction name="Brownpants" color="0.5 0.35 0.1" (color values and faction name will obviously be different based on the .XML you're editing).... Change this line to read <faction name="Brownpants" color="0.1 0.1 0.9"

5) File >>> Save As. In the "save as type" field, drag down to "All Files" then name the file brown.XML (or whatever faction you decided to change) and save it. It'll ask if you want to overwrite. yes, you do. (always back up the original!)

6) Repeat Step 1-5, except begin step 2 by navigating to the folders "vanilla", then "factions" instead of "classic" then "factions"

7) Enjoy RWR with brown text replaced by blue. Worked with my existing saved vanilla campaign.

Note: The color values you are changing are Red, green, and blue values, in that order. its a percentage value where .1 is 10% and 1 is 100%. you can change the color to whatever you'd like by tweaking these values.

@Tauren Chief: did you try the "color blind" option coming natively with Windows 10?
I heard from some players that it worked out for them.
I really don't have much time myself to also care about this mod, but I might spend some time on it in case the Windows 10 color blind mode doesn't help you. But try it out first.

• Go to Settings / Ease of Access / Color and High Contrast

And as I said already, feel free to jump on Discord to tell about it in the #modding channel

Too bad this doesn't have any more support, the game is pretty much unplayable without it for me. Thanks a lot for the initiative and updates you guys made up to now, I'm sure it helped tons of players.

The author of this mod (REDRUM) hasn't been on Steam for very very long time, so I doubt he will update it ever. I really don't have much time to work more on it myself but you guys could join Discord (#modding channel) and make a community project out of it, I am sure there are people in there who could help you out as it's not awfuly much work.

Jack... Any chance of getting 0.92 onto the Steam Workshop?

Any chance of updating this to work with the Pacific DLC?

I suppose I could just make a tool for automating the change of colors and release that if you guys have no plans of doing something.

I just haven't been able to enjoy the DLC because I can't tell the difference between each side.
