Dips on being camoflaged; i mean Bown-darkgreen? that colour which is almost the same as background ;P
honestly that colour should be changed ^^
also would like a less extreme version of this; this is kinda ruining any immersion you could have, even if it is nice to be able to identify em easily :P

Ok my colorblind brothers, there is a workaround. its not perfect, as it doesnt change the color of the soldiers themselves (im no modder), but it does change the color of the text that pops up when you hover over someone. helps me a lot. unsure if it works in MP. (Following example will change the Brownpants text to blue, and i have only tried with vanilla campaign, although id bet 20 bucks the process is the same for the DLC's)

1) Find the "packages" folder in your RWR directory. (For me, its "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RunningWithRifles\media\packages")

2) Navigate to the folders "classic", then "factions". Here there are several files. Amongst them are Green, Brown, and Grey. All .XML files.

3) Right Click the .XML corresponding to the color you want to change (I changed Brown, so it was brown.xml), and select "edit" (you could also just open this file in notepad).
[6thWI]Fizzerolli 9 Jan, 2021 @ 7:27pm
4) Near the top, you will see the line <faction name="Brownpants" color="0.5 0.35 0.1" (color values and faction name will obviously be different based on the .XML you're editing).... Change this line to read <faction name="Brownpants" color="0.1 0.1 0.9"

5) File >>> Save As. In the "save as type" field, drag down to "All Files" then name the file brown.XML (or whatever faction you decided to change) and save it. It'll ask if you want to overwrite. yes, you do. (always back up the original!)

6) Repeat Step 1-5, except begin step 2 by navigating to the folders "vanilla", then "factions" instead of "classic" then "factions"

7) Enjoy RWR with brown text replaced by blue. Worked with my existing saved vanilla campaign.

Note: The color values you are changing are Red, green, and blue values, in that order. its a percentage value where .1 is 10% and 1 is 100%. you can change the color to whatever you'd like by tweaking these values.

@Tauren Chief: did you try the "color blind" option coming natively with Windows 10?
I heard from some players that it worked out for them.
I really don't have much time myself to also care about this mod, but I might spend some time on it in case the Windows 10 color blind mode doesn't help you. But try it out first.

• Go to Settings / Ease of Access / Color and High Contrast

And as I said already, feel free to jump on Discord to tell about it in the #modding channel

Too bad this doesn't have any more support, the game is pretty much unplayable without it for me. Thanks a lot for the initiative and updates you guys made up to now, I'm sure it helped tons of players.
JackMayol  [developer] 30 Oct, 2018 @ 3:33am
The author of this mod (REDRUM) hasn't been on Steam for very very long time, so I doubt he will update it ever. I really don't have much time to work more on it myself but you guys could join Discord (#modding channel) and make a community project out of it, I am sure there are people in there who could help you out as it's not awfuly much work.
McGramps 29 Oct, 2018 @ 6:40pm
Jack... Any chance of getting 0.92 onto the Steam Workshop?
xylr 11 Sep, 2018 @ 1:25am
Any chance of updating this to work with the Pacific DLC?

I suppose I could just make a tool for automating the change of colors and release that if you guys have no plans of doing something.

I just haven't been able to enjoy the DLC because I can't tell the difference between each side.

Thanks!

Thanks for the updated version. I just tried RWR for the first time in a long time, and remembered very quickly one of the reasons I quit before was that I could only play one side.. the other two looked identical to me.

Changing colours of the factions really should just be a slider in the menu when you start a new campaign.

*** IMPORTANT NOTE ****

I adapted the version to the latest game changes, I will also try to keep it up to date in case changes are needed in the future.

HERE IS THE LATEST VERSION 0.91 (tested in vanilla 1.60):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ct429rmsa2lxen1/iFactions_v0.91.zip?dl=0

I am not planning to extend it, just to make it compatible for the latest versions of the game so please don't ask for new features :)
JackMayol  [developer] 1 Nov, 2017 @ 2:55pm
REDRUM has unfortunately not been online for a very long time. I'd suggest that someone makes a duplication of this (at least until REDRUM comes back - in case he'll do...) and make it compatible with the latest version of RWR. You can get help by the RWR community in the modding section of Discord:

Hi, I'm trying to upload a similar reskin mod to the workshop and I am unsure how to get it working. Can you please tell me how to fix this issue and tell me how to update an RWR workshop item?

REDRUM  [author] 22 Sep, 2016 @ 5:33pm
Updated to v0.9, fixed few things and changed the compression method for the .zip, see changelog for more details.
REDRUM  [author] 22 Sep, 2016 @ 2:43pm
If for some reason anyone has issues extracting the .zip, extract with www.7zip.org ; should work 100%.
REDRUM  [author] 8 Sep, 2016 @ 2:42pm
@bdoubleoo93,

Are you downloading the iFactions_v08.zip from mega? -- Screenshot: http://prntscr.com/cfsdl4
I am trying to reproduce what you are describing; all the files are there.

-- Make sure you have have downloaded the latest version from mega: https://mega.nz/#F!sMxWRbiB!IsgiDb2S-2EJy56PdVvxVQ

-- Your download could've been corrupt, try downloading it again freshly and extract all files to your desktop then follow the installation instructions above.

-- Judging how you keep saying the "Hud Skins" are working, I think you probably downloaded the wrong zip, as in, you went directly to the Alternative Huds Icons thread that I linked in the credits. The download link is at the bottom labeled as "Download v0.8: Link".
bdoubleoo93 8 Sep, 2016 @ 2:07pm
extracting from the zip. nothing in models folder after extraction . hud skins working though.
REDRUM  [author] 6 Sep, 2016 @ 7:18am
Having issues extractng from the zip? Or the soldier models just wont replace over the vanilla files(permissions issue)? You can use 7zip to extract the .zip file. www.7-zip.org
bdoubleoo93 5 Sep, 2016 @ 10:49pm
wont let me extract the character models. the hud skins are beautiful though.

@NullenHL2B, gotta use the RWR Editor to edit the soldier models and photoshop for textures. You can find the editor on the main publc RWR forums(Not steam).
Sgt Stacker 30 Aug, 2016 @ 10:15am
How'd you do it? I'm working on a mod for RWR that kinda has the same idea as this called "Color War"
REDRUM  [author] 29 Aug, 2016 @ 10:06pm
Re-textured faction vehicles coming soon, see screenshot above for preview!
