Independent Mars

Description
Adds a separate nation - the Commonwealth of Mars - alongside Earth in the standard United Nations of Earth start.

Features:
- The solar system is joint-owned between the United Nations of Earth and the Commonwealth of Mars, turning the Galaxy map around the solar system a lurid red/blue pattern. You'll have the option to play as either one.
- Mars is a lush desert planet. Of course, it's got continental-preference humans trying to live on it, so they'll be stuck at 30% habitability until you can get genetic engineering (or a ship to a better planet).
- Alternate history, diverging when landers found a thriving ecosystem on Mars.
- Woefully unbalanced, and deliberately so. Mars is supposed to be an underdog here.
- Space Communism.

With thanks to BladeofSharpness for the Mars Defence Fleet code.

check out The Belt(Wole2.3) it adds people living in .. the belt gives you the feel of the expanse and more colonizable "worlds"

@joseeph_anthony_king Just my 2 cents but from what I understood the point of reducing the cost was the the initial stages of colony setup would be unprofitable and need that support but that once industry could be established a colony could be more or less self sustaining

not to mention the bigger goal of ensuring humanities survival if something were to ever happen to mother earth

@San Felipe, there's been talk of colonies on Mars since the 1960's so I'll believe it when I see it. Fact is colonies on Mars will require extensive support from Earth to even be viable, that's Musk's rationale for coming up with reusable rockets... to try to reduce that costs. Yet, if such colonies are only viable with cheap rockets that means there isn't much there to exploit to begin with so why bother? It'd be too expensive (we'd have to provide an atmosphere, biosphere, and hydrosphere) with small return on investment. As such, the lack of a colony on start makes sense and will probably prove to be accurate.

But when we colonise Mars, it will be an inhospitable planet. Stellaris doesn't allow for this, in Stellaris you colonise planets that suit your race. Mars, honestly, doesn't suit Mankind. What Stellaris should do is allow for a "habitat" option that is energy expensive but which doesn't cripple your consumer goods production.

@Everyone - Its always weird why Mars is never colonised in every Sol playthrough to begin with? It's not even slightly terraformed or habitable, which does not reflect reality since humanity will soon set off for red planet and we're still in the 21st century?

There should be a Expanse mod, it will never be done unfortunetly

2.0 functionally kills this mod as shared systems are no longer possible. Sadness. =(
