The ultimate airship!

I present to you my interpretation of the YSS-1000 Sabre-Class Starfighter from Halo Reach, more commonly known as the Sabre. This is probably my most advanced plane yet.

The Sabre is equipped with loads of weaponry and tools to create the perfect first-person cockpit experience.


Cockpit indicators

The cockpit is equipped with indicators for every single mechanism except for steering and main thrusters.
  • Left piston indicates whether the Cruise thrusters are activated or not.
  • Right piston indicates whether the Vertical takeoff function is activated or not.

  • Left steering hinge indicates whether the landing gear is in or out.
  • Right steering hinge indicates whether the bomb hatch is open or not.
  • Decoupler on the bomb hatch indicator indicates if the glider bomb is dropped or not.

  • 3 Decouplers in the top indicates which missiles has been launched.
  • Attitude indicator behind the crosshair indicates the orientation of the ship with a horizon. If you're not sure what this is, here's an example![www.pilotfriend.com].
Weaponry
  • 6 Missiles fired in pairs
  • 1 Cannon (very fun to play with infinite ammo!)
  • 2 Long range flamethrowers
  • 1 Glider bomb, a small droppable glider which drops 9 bombs in the same direction the plane was flying when the glider was deployed.

How to play:
  • I usually play this machine at 40-60% speed. I have adjusted all controls to act "normally" as if it was 100% speed. This means that playing it at 100% speed not only comes with lags, but also with extremely sensitive controls.

  • Vertical Takeoff by pressing J (or Left Alt) until you have enough altitude. Adjust pitch and roll to keep stable. Now is a good time to retract landing gear by holding M.
    Activate main thrusters when ready, and give some extra boost with X if nessecary. Remember to shut off Vertical Takeoff when flying.

  • Open the bomb hatch by holding K. Make sure it's open all the way before dropping the gliding bomb with U. Higher altitude equals longer bomb spread.

  • Flying from the cockpit can be easier than flying with freecam thanks to all the indicators.

  • Although it's originally a spaceship it's built to be flown like any ordinary plane, that means no Zero-G!

Freecam Controls:
These are the controls I recommend using if flying with a freecam. Using the WASD keys with freecam is not recommended.
  • J toggles Vertical Takeoff
  • Z toggles Cruise Thrusters
  • V toggles between Cameras.
  • M / N extends or retracts Landing gear.
  • Num7 / Num8 to open or close the Canopy

  • Hold X for Main Thrusters
  • T & G for Pitch
  • F & H for Roll
  • R & Y for Yaw

  • 4/5/6 for firing missiles
  • C for firing front cannon
  • K / I opens or closes Bomb hatch
  • U drops the gliding bomb.
  • B for long range flamethrowers

Alternative Cockpit Controls:
These are the controls I recommend using if flying from the cockpit. You can of course combine them with the freecam controls to your liking.
  • Left Alt toggles Vertical Takeoff
  • Left Ctrl toggles Cruise Thrusters
  • V toggles between cameras.
  • Num1 / Num2 extends or retracts Landing gear.
  • Num7 / Num8 to open or close the Canopy

  • Hold Left Shift for Main Thrusters
  • W & S for Pitch
  • A & D for Roll
  • Q & E for Yaw

  • 1/2/3 for firing missiles
  • C for firing front cannon
  • Num4 / Num5 opens or closes Bomb hatch
  • Num6 drops the gliding bomb.
  • B for long range flamethrowers

Im a bad pilot at it at the moment, but i play halo reach, and this thing looks like it, flys like it and is just all around super cool. The missiles though, i cant never figre those out on any creations, they spin out of control the second i fire them no matter what im doing. Its like this on any creation I try, if anyone has a solution that would be great.

This is an amazing plane. I love all the indicators, that should help me a lot as soon as I memorize what indicator indicates what. I'm also really impressed with how awesome it looks without even having skins. I'm going to skin it anyway, of course, but that really impresses me. Another thing I like is its adaptability. It has VTOL for tight takeoff, missiles and the gliding bomb, long-range flamethrowers, a cannon, and indicators for ease of use. I also love the look of its take-off (just based on the GIF), which kind of reminds me of rocket take-offs what with the fire suddenly appearing at the side of the plane accompanied by smoke. So, all in all, one of the best planes I've ever seen on the Workshop.

This has got to be my favorite plane creation in besiege! It's tight and responsive, has epic weaponry, and the follow cam gives you a real sense of speed like a starfighter should have! If I could fly any creation in real life, I would choose this one every time (I would probably blow up and die, but that's ok).

This creation is awesome! Once you know the controls, it's not that hard to use. It's quite sturdy, and can take a mediocre amount of abuse for a plane. I'm also a very big fan of Halo, and really liked Reach. Keep up the good work, and maybe make more Halo stuff?
