Man this mod took a long time to make.


If anyone, whilst using this mod feels anyting should be added to the physics or if there's something you don't like about them, please mention it in the comments! Feedback is always appreciated.




This mod edits the vanilla ragdoll physics for most of the default human units and currently only some alien units. I say 'most' because at the moment I don't think civilians are affected, and currently I lack the motivation to replace about 50 differernt archetypes (Because theres quite a few different types of civilians) and you don't really see civilians die much at all anyway except for retalliation missions, and even then theyre invisible for about 5 seconds after they die. Also the Sectopod ragdoll works but there's a few things that need to be ironed out with the standing up death animation and such.

*Oh something I forgot to add, this mod only affects all of the BASE game units, not any modded in ones but if the authors of those mods wanted to use our ragdoll physics for their units we'd be perfectly happy to share them with them.

Also the reason I didn't call this 'better' or 'improved' ragdoll physics is because I think that's subjective, there may be people who prefer the vanilla ragdoll physics to this.

My main motivation to start trying to make this mod was the infamous 'spread-knee' death pose, as you should be able to see somewhere above here in the showcase images. That's one of the main features of this one, the other two obviously being giving select units ragdoll physics that originally didin't even have a physics asset, e.g. the Gatekeeper and Sectopod.



So with that out of the way, what units does this mod effect?

-XCOM Soldiers

-Sectopod (Standing death animation is a bit buggy atm but we intend to fix that at some point)

For those last two units this mod actually adds ragdoll to them, because they originally weren't using a physics asset.



Also credit to xylthixlm on the discord channel for helping with getting this mod onto the workshop and pointing out that if the ModPreview isn't a jpeg the mod won't publish.

Another also, I intend to get around to making a video on how to edit the ragdoll physics.

Final also, credit to Vortex-Pixalation for all the screenshots and video up above that actually look professional and haven't been taken on an outdated laptop unlike the ones I posted which pale in comparison.

Compatability:

Replaces the archetypes for XCOM soldiers and all the base game enemies.

If there are incompatibilities they shouldn't be gamebreaking, the units will simply use the archetype that has overridden our one.

*UPDATE LOG*

7/6/16 - Update for general compatibility, thanks to Grimy on the Discord channel for bringing this better way of overriding the archetypes to my attention and Eladdv for getting it to work for me.

- Mod now works in multiplayer, but both players must have it active for it to work. When playing modded multiplayer, both players must have the exact same mods active, launch options and config files.

-Added edited sectoid physics.

8/6/16 - Added edited Muton physics.



10/6/16 - Added edited Chryssalid physics.

-Smoke that is emitted from the Sectopod now comes from the ragdoll itself as oppose to the tile it dies on, and Gatekeepers now use the pink faceless gooey blood. Courtesy of Vortex-Pixalation.#

-Compatability patch for Maluco Marinero's Guerilla War mod, all ADVENT units now have 'carried body' animations determined and so will no longer go into a 'T' pose when picked up.


11/6/16 - Added edited physics to Long War Studios's Muton Centurion.


12/6/1 - Miscellaneous tweaks to the human ragdolls, all ADVENT units now have their own individual phys asset which has collision boxes that match the shapes of their armour. So that's officers, troopers, stun lancers, shieldbearers and psi witches.

13/6/16 - Some small tweaks to the human ragdoll collision boxes, human thighs now more flexible.

15/6/16 - Gave each ADVENT unit gender their own phys asset, so the collision boxes match their proportions.

-Added edited Archon ragdoll physics.

20/6/16 - Fixed issue of linking Avatars to the wrong archetype, resulting in them having no archetype and not appearing at all.

30/6/16 - Added edited MEC ragdoll, added edited Faceless ragdoll and restored a MEC dying animation where it staggers forward. Also MEC's and mutons (Including the Centurion) can now move bodies around.

--------------------------MISSING LOGS----------------------------------------
Due to some clumsiness on my part the last 2 or so update logs after 30/6/16 are lost for all eternity.

15/6/16 - Made MEC's ragdolls stiffer and gave them a collision box where their launcher should be.

19/6/16 - Removed a collision box from the Stun Lancers' backs that was causing awkward poses.

20/6/16 - Vortex-Pixalation has made it so that the Sectopod's gun explodes into a conglomerate of shards and debris, adding a little more flare to the sectopod's death.
