WAR: Powerful Rueful Axe (a Weapons, Armor and Robes mod)

Weapons, Armor and Robes Collection

Description
Makes the Rueful Axe live up to its promise of being a truly powerful axe and fun indeed!
This mod gives the Rueful Axe three useful enchantments. It also increases its speed, so it's no longer the slowest swinging weapon in the game. Now you can wield the awesome-looking daedric prize with pride, instead of putting it on a weapons rack and hanging your head in Haemar's shame!

❖ Other Mods You Might Like

Like the mod? You might also like the Weapons, Armor and Robes Collection. If you want a one-handed version of the Rueful Axe with the improved enchantments, it's available with this mod: WAR: Unique, One-Handed Weapons. If this mod does well, I might make WAR (Weapons Armor and Robes) mods for other unique, named weapons of the game. So please consider rating it and adding it as a favorite, even if you don't want to subscribe now, and follow us on Steam to get notified when mods are released.

WHY THE MOD IS NEEDED

So if you're like me, you rued the day you saw the Rueful Axe. I mean, the howling werewolf motif on the blade looks so epic you really wanted to use it! But you didn't, because it's the slowest weapon of the vanilla game. To make the letdown worse, the Daedric Lord who gave it to you made a vain promise:

"There's an axe. An incredibly powerful axe. An axe powerful enough for me to have quite a bit of fun, indeed."
-- Clavicus Vile

Seriously Clavicus? It does minor damage to stamina. What fun is that? I can buy better weapons from a Khajiit caravan! What a sack of daedric dog doo doo, you vile liar, you!

Well, this mod gives you seriously good reasons to have real fun using the Rueful Axe! It now swings as fast as an Ebony battleaxe, deals the same damage as an Ebony battleaxe, and has incredibly powerful (and useful) enchantments. It absorbs health, traps souls, and does extra damage to werewolves, trolls, bears and other predators. This is in keeping with the lore of the weapon, as described by Vile's companion:

"One of Clavicus's little jests. A wizard named Sebastian Lort had a daughter who worshiped Hircine. When the daughter became a werewolf it drove Sebastian over the edge. He couldn't stand to see his little girl take on such a bestial form. The wizard wished for the ability to end his daughter's curse. Clavicus gave him an axe."
-- Barabas

HOW TO GET THE RUEFUL AXE

The Rueful Axe can be obtained during the Daedric quest A Daedra's Best Friend[www.uesp.net]. To start the quest, simply travel to Falkreath and talk to the blacksmith about his missing dog. More information about the weapon of the vanilla game is here: The Rueful Axe[www.uesp.net].

IMPROVEMENTS MADE BY THIS MOD

It doesn't matter if you're completed the quest A Daedra's Best Friend and already own the Rueful Axe, or have yet to begin the quest. After you subscribe to this mod, the weapon will have these improvements:

✓ Swings Faster
It will swing as fast as an Ebony battle axe, instead of being the slowest weapon of the game.

✓ Improved Damage
It will do more damage, and the same as an Ebony battleaxe.

✓ Greater Value
It will be worth more, and 3x the gold of an Ebony battleaxe.

✓ Extra Damage to Predators
It now does 20% more damage to werewolves, wolves, trolls, bears, sabre cats and other animal predators.

✓ Absorbs Health
It now absorbs 10 health per hit.

✓ Soul Trap
If a target dies within 5 seconds of being hit by the weapon, it fills a soul gem.

✓ Erie Red Glow
Instead of the original green glow, it now has a blood-red glow, to match its vampire-like absorb health magic visuals effects.

Doing 2-handed playthrough, had mod on that made dawnbreaker, etc. 2-H. Start dual-wield playthrough, get rueful axe, like enchantment, disenchant to use on 1-H, realize some good 1-H are now 2-H, deactivate mod, lose enchantment, freak out, console command in rueful axe, shitty enchanment, freak out more. read a little, calm down, subscribe to this one. great mods dude.

Finally. Thank you for fixing this axe.

Gesadalken: Not sure 20 stamina damage is enough. Another Daedric weapon absorbs 50 stamina.

I wouldn't mind a version that increases damage but is still slow and without the enchantment.
