Day Night Cycle ENB v1

Description
NEWS:
This mod was featured on Microsoft's official Age of Empires website! Thank you all for your support in making this happen!
http://www.ageofempires.com/news/2016/06/14/modpositives-aoe-ii-daynight-cycle/

SUMMARY:
The Day/Night Cycle ENB simulates a day/night cycle by applying dynamic contrast, saturation, and brightness post-processing algorithms to change the look of the game. Units, buildings, game menus, etc., are all impacted, and you can disable and enable the mod in-game as you like. The Day/Night Cycle ENB effects are well-suited for scenarios/RPGs, campaigns, or even standard random map games!

=========================================================

INSTALLATION:
Since ENB mods are not supported via auto-install on Steam currently, you will need to manually install. Please follow the below installation steps exactly, or the Age of Empires II HD Day/Night Cycle Mod may not work properly:
  1. In your Steam Game Library, right click on "Age of Empires II HD" and click Properties.
  2. Click on the "Set launch options..." button.
  3. Type in SKIPINTRO and click OK. This is necessary because the Age of Empires II HD Day/Night Cycle Mod does not work with the introductory videos.

  4. Download the Day/Night Cycle ENB Mod from ModDB (Link in the YouTube video description): DOWNLOAD HERE

  5. Now open the "AoE2HD Day Night Cycle ENB Mod v1.0.zip" file, then open the "enbseries_generic_v0076.zip" file inside with your favorite archiving program
    (i.e. WinRAR, WinZip, etc.).
  6. Inside the enbseries_generic_v0076.zip file, navigate to the folder below:
    \WrapperVersion
  7. Extract the following five files within \WrapperVersion into your Age2HD directory:
    \Steam\SteamApps\common\Age2HD\

    d3d9.dll
    effect.txt
    effect_functions.txt
    enbseries.ini
    enbseries_mastereffect.ini

  8. Launch the game. If you see the text "ENBSeries v0.076 Generic" in the upper left corner of your screen, your installation was successful! The text will disappear after a short while, so now simply play the game and enjoy.
=========================================================

ENABLE/DISABLE SWITCH:
You can turn the ENB mod on/off in-game by pressing SHIFT + F12 to compare the effects of the Age of Empires II HD Day/Night Cycle Mod with standard AoE2HD.

GAME VERSION:
This mod works as is for AoE2HD and the expansions AoF and AoAK.

MULTIPLAYER:
As this is a graphic mod, it is fully multiplayer compatible! You may play using this mod against players who both have and do not have this mod installed.

MOD COMPATIBILITY:
Since this ENB mod applies post-processing effects while your game is running, it is compatible with ALL other non-ENB mods! Yes, even mods that change textures. The ENB will automatically apply its effects to everything on-screen.

BACKGROUND:
First off- what is "ENB"? Good question- the actual acronym is a mystery to me. However, what I can tell you is what ENB\ENBSeries mods do. ENB mods strive to utilize and enhance post-processing effects to customize how games look. The developer of ENB, Boris Vorontsov, has the following to say about ENB:

"The main idea is to allow every gamer to configure how [a] game looks like [to] their own taste, so [that] every player [can] share [these] settings with others. Many games may look much better and ENBSeries is the easiest way to improve them."
Enbdev.com

I have used ENB mods in other games to great effect on my gaming experience. In fact, it was while I was playing Skyrim with an ENB that it dawned on me that since AoE2HD uses DirectX9 graphics, it might just be possible to create an ENB mod for it. And today, after much learning, tweaking, and trial and error, I am proud to present the first Day/Night Cycle ever for AoE2HD!

Yes- you can adjust the settings in the .ini files- try it out!

Is there a way to adjust the Night appearence? Lower brightness and a blue ton would look far more accurate :AOEKnight:

Hi guys, thanks for all the feedback. To edit the values, you can modify the .ini files included. The Enbdev site may have some tips too.

I'll take the darker tone feedback into consideration. Torch effects aren't possible without changing individual graphics of units/buildings and they wouldn't be in sync with the day/night clock.

Please are there some tutorials for how to actually EDIT those values ?
Aaaand also - maybe some community presents ? I just want to make the night more blue/pureple-ish :) thanks a lot :)

also it's a cool idea to make units cary torches etc at night.

It's a very cool idea but the effects in those pictures and movies shown doesn't look that much like nighttime to me. You should give it a more darker tone and make more fire/torch effects in the houses to make it "feel" more like it's actually night/dark.

One cycle from day to night and back to day is roughly 24 minutes.
