HL1 takes place in the 2000s, the game was made in the 90s

doesn't make sense, half-life 1 takes place in '90-s and half-life 2 is around 20 years after half-life

Black Mesa takes place in the early 2000s. This is accurate if you think the game takes place in 2001 or later.

A scientist in Anomalous Materials mentions the ROFLcopter meme, which first appeared in 2003. This is consistent with Laidlaw's date provided in Raising the Bar, which would make this mod ideal if one were to do a playthrough with that in mind.

Well. now its cannon that it takes place either in 2001 or 2002. so yeah windows xp makes the most sense.
