FIXED?!

Description

Start from scratch. Wherever you want, whenever you want. Just your suit and you. And tools of course.

This mod is the first one of my Survival Series, aiming to extend the survival aspect of the game.

Your backpack has been upgraded to latest outerspace survival equipment standards and now allows you to survive without having to rely on any ship life support systems. Process basic components, ores and ingots on the go with your suit, without the need of a ship or station. Hunt for ice to refill your oxygen and hydrogen, or your suit energy more quickly. Kickstart your suit energy with the built-in RTG reactor, just enough so you can mine that ice block again!

Usage

By pressing "CRTL + R" you open your upgraded suit backpack. You can interact with it like you would with any other ship when opening its inventory. You will first want to get some ice to convert it to Suit Fuel in the Suit Fuel Converter. It will always work, even without Suit Fuel in the first place due to the suits built-in RTG reactor giving out just enough energy to power it. Your suit's Fuel Cell will burn the Suit Fuel and fully power your systems, enabling to use the internal refinery and assembler.

Simply move ores, ingots or components out of you inventory to the Suit Refinery or Suit Assembler to process it. You can assign assembler orders like you would for any other assembler, but only a basic set of components is available. Just enough to start a small solar powered base and build a real refinery and assembler! But keep in mind that their operation will cost you Suit Fuel, so keep an eye on your storage.

By pressing "SHIFT + R" you refill you suits power and gas reserves. You can always recharge your suit energy very slowly thanks to the RTG reactor, so you can always use tools to mine ice if you run out of Suit Fuel, but having Suit Fuel will significantly speed up the process. To refill oxygen and hydrogen, place some ice inside the Suit Oxygen Generator and press "SHIFT + R" again.

Mod Interoperability
Due to the Suit Assembler and Suit Refinery being just that, it is very easy to add new recipies with mods by adding them to the "SuitRefinery" and "SuitAssembler" blueprint class.

Recipe adding mods

- Industrial Centrifuge (by me): https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=465220761
Adding Gravel to Iron, Nickel, Silicon and Magnesium recipe

Thinking about

- Adding silver and reactor components to the available recipes

Known Issues

- Closing the backpack by pressing "CRTL + R" again does not work, use "ESC"
- Backpacks do not save their content when reloading or rejoining yet
- If your Suit Fuel Converter won't convert ice to fuel, try to press "SHIFT + R" to update the power grid
- Don't open a new interface (pressing "I") when you are inside the backpack interface, after leaving both your client will crash (no fix for it available without more API whitelist, so you have to watch out a bit)

@Shroom
i would interpret it more as a consent to uplaod a fixed version towards that person and not a general consent.

@Rogue Sable If it's so easy then go ahead and do it, he says below you are free to upload a fixed version.

Hi, it seems this mod has a gigantic potential for survival MP games! Would it be possible to update it please? It suffers from many bugs the community already tried to patch but it seems it's always easier to rework its own project! :D

Well then, here's my updated-to-functionality version of this:

Hopefully some other people are as happy to see this working in modern Space Engineers as I am.
I've already started a new survival world with nothing in my inventory, and it's been great.
Lots of walking, lots of sight-seeing, lots of appreciating vehicles and infrastructure so much more.

While I think a colab would be really awesome, I think I would hold you back more then anything else because I'm just too invested at work right now. So of course you have the permission to upload your fixed version!

I think Cynthon wouldn't mind, if you gave him credit. Also Darian, the backpack inventory after save has always been wonky even in Vanilla. Just stash your stuff in cargo or cryo.

Also, as a bonus, I added 'AwwScrap' compatibility to the suit refinery, making starting with nothing even more possible, especially with the recently-released 'Abandoned Settlements' mod.

I've managed to get this mod working on the current version of Space Engineers!
It even seems to work in Multiplayer.
I haven't managed to fix the whole 'keep backpack inventory after save' issue (Every attempt has led to crashes so far), but the mod is functional!
Would I have permission to upload my fixed version to my own workshop for ease of future updates (Since co-authors on Steam can't actually update mods), or would you rather I collaborate with you?

to be fair, you _can_ get the Powerkits and Medkits from vending machines. They should have a scenario start with like, a crate of those and a drill.
