AVE: Fortifications

Açıklama
THIS MOD IS PATCH-17 COMPATIBLE. A new sub mod, "AVE: Fortifications (Empire Divided sub-mod)" is available.
To switch to 'Patch-17': Go to your Steam page and then select LIBRARY. Right click on your game 'ROME II' on the left. Go to properties. Select BETAS in the pop-up screen. In here you can select 'patch_17'.

This mod enables fortifications in the region the buildings are placed in for all forces in this region and adds garrison units. All forces in the region will be given bonuses regarding morale, defense and attack. However, when an amphibious assault takes place and the defending commander will then be probably be an admiral, the fortifications will be most probably absent. AI is most probably not going to put up these defenses, that is why I added the effects for the defending garrisons (morale, defense and attack bonus). For most factions, the added garrison units are a siege weapon, which should make the defending garrison units deploy as a force defending the town, rather than running out to try to do some harm, which they never can accomplish. Since there is little to no evidence for siege equipment for barbarian factions in history, I added more defensive units, more cavalry in the first place to counter attack, which will increase the numbers for a counter attack in stead of putting up a defensive position. When you play with a barbarian faction, you can, of course, put up the defensive traps and use the additional forces to counter the enemy's advance. Tests have shown that these fortifications could make a difference, but will surely not give guaranty of victory.
This mod makes the factions, using the fortifications in game, to at least recruit the level 1 infantry, so the recruitment is not compromised. Since the first level requires food, AI will probably choose to build the usual barracks in first place and might then decide to build a fortification. Tests have shown that these fortifications could be a surplus, but, as always, that's up to AI.
The barricades and stakes now have more hit points. I am open to suggestion to increase these even further.
This mod should be more realistic than to make it possible to turn every town into a walled city. I have tried this out and the towns then become fortified cities, with the battle map chosen from the nearest capital city. Tests showed for the little town of Consentia (southern Italy) that the battle map was put up for Brundisium, which is a fortified city that has access to the sea, which Consentia could never have. The majority on forums is also against such an idea to make the minor cities walled, which would be historically incorrect. This mod should therefore offer a more plausible alternative to fortify minor towns.

You can also download 'AVE: fortifications part 2'. This mod gives you additional heavy barricades, which will hold up the enemy for a longer period of time.

The fortification in rome 2 and testudo formation are an insult to the roman empire.

CA messed up big time with the upgrade you mentioned. This results that I was forced to make a new mod playable with the new patch. I suggest you play with this new patch, and in this case the mod here is indeed no longer valuable. I have created a new mod, doing about the same thing. Visit my workshop and there you should find the mod you reqested (Fortifications Empire Divided Compatible). If you use the "Fortifications part two", it should still be compatible (this mod will give you structures that are hard to be demolished, very hard barricades). Please notice that you need to uncheck the orriginal "Fortifications mod" when the game should crash.

Sorry to confuse you. I mean the hot-fix around December 18th.

Please, don't tell me I have to make another version....! Please tell me more about that 'hot-fix patch' if you want to. I'm loosing myself in updating my mods (tons of work), and then it seems like another version is launched that I'm not aware about? Please tell me more about your comment

Hello, author. Are you still going to update this for the latest hot-fix patch several days ago?
Thank you.

You can find it in my workshop items.

The options are meagre to nothing: you can add 'custom' fortifications, but they can only be derived from existing ones. For example, which I did with the barricades, you can create an existing sort of fortification and alter its features, like resistance to certain forces (burned down, run down,...), but nothing else. The thing is that there are no models (of which I know off) available to create things like towers that fire upon the enemy (had a real bad headache searching for such, the same for actual walls where units can be put upon)
Wolf King 18 Ara 2017 @ 15:31
is there anyway to add new custom modelled fortifications?
REGNATOR  [yaratıcı] 18 Ara 2017 @ 14:54
To Wolf King:
I've seen and tested mods that add walls to minor settlements and, I must say, it's a total srew up. The thing is that the PC will generate the nearest (walled) city instead. this gives the problem that when you assault an inland settlement the PC will show you the (walled) city near by. I 've done this in my mod "Saguntum and Emporion", where it didn't matter. Test showed "Saguntum" to be walled, like "Emporion" (both on the eastern sea side of the Iberian Peninsula) and that was OK. On a test run with mods that provide walled minor settlements I came up with inland towns that suddenly appeared to be located at a coast line. This is the main reason I came up with this mod. With the "fortifications part 2" you can drag your own 'wall like' fortifications as you like. These new fortifications are not indestructible, but tests have shown that you can concentrate troops to one side and still have enough time to fight of the once that are trying to breach the 'new walls'.

Ok, thanx, keep it up!
