Description
Binary logic gates, toggle switches, timers, pulse generators, clock generators, etc. These are the tools that I use to make puzzles unique and more interesting. I try to set them up so they're easy to understand and copy into your own puzzles. I also have something I call "physical scripting," which is a method that uses lasers, forcefields, and other game items to create scripted events in the puzzles.

Fast Toggle Switch (5-laser design)
This toggle switch is based on a glitch in the game engine, which gives us "perpetual energy." The design uses: 1 pedestal switch 5 laser emitters 3 laser receivers 1 laser relay 4 angled panels The five lasers are expensive but they spend most of their ti...
Seven Logic Gates (NOT, AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR, XNOR)
Seven rooms, each with its own logic gate. The logic gates in rooms 4 and 5 are powered by lasers and laser relays, while the logic gates in rooms 6 and 7 are powered by force fields, weighted cubes, and pressure switches. This was inspired by the "redston...
Toggle and 3-way Toggle Switches
This is my own design, as far as I can tell. I've seen similar designs that are slower than this, but this one is quick, reliable and not too expensive. It's a keeper. The oscillating platform is the timer for the on/off mechanism. The (up and down) piston...
Toggle Switch (Bungled)
This is my original design for a toggle switch. It isn't perfectly synced, so every 14th press of the button will turn the switch on then off again. It works fine other than that. I'm still working on this design. It's possible that a clock generator or a ...
Timed on/off switches
This is a demonstration map. Three cubes block their lasers to lower the three black panels. Then the outside timers turn the inside tractor beams off, raising the panels back up one at a time....
6 clock generators, all different speeds
This room has six different circuits, each running at a different frequency. The two in the back left aren't technically clock generators, as they don't have regular cycles. I still think they belong in the room....
Rube Goldberg Turret Torture Device v1
This is the beginning of something beautiful. It's an automated turret torture chamber. It relies on physics and doesn't work every single time. If the turret isn't crushed, restart the map and it should work the next time....
Automated Turret Torture Chamber *Concept Map*
Fully automated! This map appears to have a life of its own. Walk through the tunnel on the left to see how it works. This is a demonstration of "Frankenswitching," something I just made up (as far as I know). This is a demo map and not a puzzle....
Flashing Sign
A large flashing sign. The stuff near the exit is my attempt to make dramatic lighting. Unfortunately, the angled panels don't block light the way they should, so the effect doesn't really work. The lighting in this game is pretty cheap....
Cheap Toggle Switch
It works in a pinch. Manual timing....
The XOR Gate, easily visualized
The easiest way I could think of to demonstrate how an XOR logic gate works in Portal 2 using lasers. This logic gate was made of three laser emitters and three laser receivers. The two buttons are the binary input and the fizzler field is the output. The ...
Perpetual Energy Lasers!
I found a game glitch that gives out perpetual energy. Hook a laser emitter up to an input button. Point it at a relay, then connect the relay to another laser that is also pointing at it. Stand on the button to turn both lasers on. When you get off the bu...
