Ingame Editor

Description
COMPATIBLE WITH ALL VERSIONS AND MODS.
An in-game editor to alter the map and many other things on the fly.

- Edit or paint terrain, features, natural wonders, resources, improvements, rivers, fog, etc.
- Change cities' religion followers, population, buildings, culture, status, etc.
- Spawn new units, remove other ones, for any civilization, including barbarians.
- Modify players' gold, culture, faith, relations, etc. End wars or seed them, grant victory or inflict shame.
- Grant or remove techs or social policies, found religions.
- Can be used as a cheat engine, a map/scenario editor, or a tool for developers.
- Not available on multiplayer games (of course!).

COMPATIBILITY:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Can be used with or without the "Gods and Kings" and/or "Brave new world" expansion. With or without any DLC.
- Can be used on Windows and OSX (look at the Mac FAQ in the links section).
- Should be fully compatible with every mod. Does not modify/replace game files.
- If you encounter a mod conflict, please report it on the official thread (links at the bottom), I wil fix it very quickly.

NOTES:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Some bugs are caused by civ5 and cannot be fixed (notably, some graphics are not updated until you reload), see the official thread (links at the bottom) for more infos.
- The first version of this mod was released on september 2011 and it is now very mature, although latest patches from Firaxis made a few things worse.
- IGE is not attached to savegames (a good thing).

LANGUAGES:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Units, techs, and such are always localized (IGE uses the names provided by Civ5).
- Full localizations available in English, French, Chinese, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Japanese.
- Feel free to submit new translations, it's easy and fast to do. Look at the links at the bottom.

INSTALLATION AND USAGE:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Subscribe to this mod.
- Start civ5 and click *MODS*. Download will automatically proceed (it it does not, Steam messed up, look at the links section - Fix Steam install)
- Enable this mod.
- DO NOT CLICK *BACK*.
- Click *NEXT* on the bottom right, check that IGE is listed.
- DO NOT CLICK *BACK*.
- Click *SINGLE PLAYER* to start or reload a solo game.
- Once your game has started, click the IGE label on the top right, close to the turn number.
- Mac users need to download the archive from the official thread and look at the Mac FAQ in the links section here to learn how to play mods on macs.

INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- I subscribed but the download does not start. Steam broke your download. Close civ5 and delete the cache folder in Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V. Start civ5, go to the mods page, be patient and wait for all mods to be downloaded. I insist: be patient or you will break things again.
- I subscribed but the download does not start (bis). If Steam continuously fails, try a manual install from the official thread (see the links section).
- I can't see the IGE label (1) It was not loaded: DO NOT CLICK "BACK"!
- I can't see the IGE label (2) Sometimes civ5 loads no mods if one of the selected mods couldn't be loaded (for example a total conversion mod was enabled but you try to reload a savegame created without it).
- I can't see the IGE label (3) Mods installed from Steam but no longer on the workshop, such as Hulfgar's postmodern expansion, cause problems. Disable them or install them manuallly from a third-party source.

OTHER FREQUENT QUESTIONS & PROBLEMS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- I cannot get achievements. Achievements are disabled whenever you play through the mods menu, this is not specific to IGE.
- How do I export the map? On the civ5 window to save your game there is a button to save as a map rather than a mere savegame.
- How do I edit the rivers? See the hex picture at the bottom left of the terrain edition panel? Click its edges to toggle rivers on/off.
- The terrain's 3D graphics are not updated A civ5 limitation, cannot be fixed. You need to save and reload.
- "Unexplore" does not work after "reveal all" A civ5 limitation, cannot be fixed.
- How do I change the position of the topright label? See links at the bottom.
- Can you shrink the UI? No. The UI is optimal for 1920*1080 and above, and still fine on 1600*900. Below that it's usable but uncomfortable. However creating an adjustable UI to improve that would be far too much work for my taste (Civ5 is no Windows or iOS and its UI systems are pretty simple) and I don't want to shrink everything and mess up the user experience on most common resolutions.

CRASHES & FREEZES
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right-click the IGE label in-game and:
- Enable the safe mode if the game crashes when you select another player.
- Disable auto-saves if the game crashes when you open IGE.
- Disable the IGE strategic map if the game randomly crashes when IGE is opened AND you were using the strategic map.
Those three bugs are caused by the game or your graphics drivers, not by IGE. I cannot fix them.

Crashes caused by mods stacking when reloading a savegame in-game:
- Disable mods that are no longer available on Steam such as Hulfgar's postmod expansion. Look for them on the web or on CivFanatics and perform a manual install instead.
- Happens randomly, the mods to remove differ from one user to another. No mod is at fault, only civ5 is.

TIPS AND TRICKS:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Ctrl + i to open/close IGE.
- Ctrl + Z to undo, ctrl + Y to redo. Works for terrain edition and painting.
- Ctrl + F5 to save and reload automatically (update terrains graphics and minimap fog).
- Right-click *IGE* to show an options panel.

Is there a way to grant policies without increasing the cost of the next policy? for example, starting a game with the piety tree unlocked, and it still takes 30 culture to unlock your "first" policy?

This mod is simply essential for those who enjoy experimenting, creating custom scenarios, or fixing bugs without having to restart an entire game. The interface is intuitive, allowing you to add resources and units to instantly change policies and technologies.

After attempting to download this mod, I have been unable to start the game. It has broken my Civ V and it doesn't load anymore. When I click play it says 'running' but nothing happens.

Installed the version v46 from Civfanatics and it loads but when I launch it I get the following msg:

IGE_API_Data.lua:1138: attempt to call field 'improvement_AdjacentImprovementYieldChanges' (a nil value)

Either when I click on the buton or use CTRL + I - When one fails, the other will respond, then the interface opens.

Levictus, ty for "holding my hand" with this. I still don't know how I would have downloaded this from github...its so user unfriendly to me...and I don't know why I did not think to look for it at civfanatics (one of my many "duh" moments) but your instructions worked perfectly.
Now if only it would work with the Gaia stuff...

Download the IGE .civ5mod file from here (v46 from 2023,it's the only one):

https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/ingame-editor.30070/

Put the .civ5mod file in a new folder (e.g. named "IGEv46") in \documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\

Make sure to delete any older IGE versions (they will also exist in a folder in MODS).
