Battlescars

Description
Simple mod that adds a levelling system to the scarred trait. There are 4 levels in total, each time you recover from a wound you will lose the old scar trait and get a new one.

I’ve removed the monthly prestige gain from the first scar (as I reckon pretty much everyone in the middle ages would’ve had at least one), but increased it for the later ones and added a general opinion modifier to the last two levels to reward your battle experience. But this comes at the cost of a small health penalty - after all, it is possible to die of old wounds.

I made this because it always bugged me that when you were scarred and got the ‘your wound has healed’ event, there was no added reward. I also wanted to create a sense that battlefield experience was cumulative, and you should now see the later levels popping up on your most active commanders as well as your own character, if they lead troops often.

This is my first mod, it’s pretty small and I’m mainly uploading it to get used to the process of adding mods to the Steam Workshop. I am currently working on two much bigger mods, which I’ll release later.

-- Compatibility --
Compatible with CK2.6.1.1, not tested on previous versions. I don’t play in iron man mode and have no intention to create an ironman compatible mod, although I will with my bigger mods later. Shouldn’t need any DLC, but I play with all of it installed and haven’t tested it without.
This mod alters the following vanilla files:
- common\traits\01_traits.txt
- events\health_events.txt
- gfx\traits\scarred.dds
If you have any mods that alter the same files, you’ll need to create a compatibility patch. To find out if your mods clash, look in the mod zip folder, navigate to the paths above (if the folders don’t exist then you’re good) and check whether it contains the files above. Remember that because of the mod numbering system in vanilla, adding mods with traits can mess up existing saves by ‘jumping’ traits on characters. Mine definitely won’t mess with any vanilla traits, but if you have a lot of mods that add traits you might want to check their trait file names, and make sure my file zz_13_robmod_BS_traits.txt would fall alphabetically after theirs. Do the same whenever downloading mods with traits.

-- Disclaimer --
This is my first mod, and it’s pretty small, I’ve studied how to mod, and I’ve stress-tested it, so it shouldn’t do anything drastic. However, as an inexperienced modder it’s possible I’ve made some mistakes. As with all mods, backup your saves and download at your own risk.

Also, I’m shamefully poor at languages, so have just used Google Translate for the French, German and Spanish localisations. They’re probably wrong in places, but at least the results should be funny. If anyone wants to have a go at translating, please let me know! Also, I haven’t used the mod in those languages and as the sentences tend to be longer, the text might clip outside of the event boxes.

Credit to www.paultobinart.com for the excellent cover image, check out his work if you like the period.

Enjoy!

this mods good but it has a gamebreaking flaw it seems to drive 90 percent of characters mad as in they nearly all get lunatic and possesed out of nowhere

Hey there.

I have found that this mod increases insanely the leper / possesed / lunatic amount of people and it makes the game unplayable.

It is sad, because the mod is really cool, but I dont recommend to use it.
