Bands of the Parasite

Description
A set of three rings with class bonuses and the parasitic ability to leech 50% from one stat and put it into another. For the Warrior, Mage and Ranger types. By wearing a ring you give up some of one stat to boost the other. It’s a balance of power.

Ranger
Stamina -> Health
[see picture - The Rangers Bounty for class bonuses]

Mage
Health -> Magicka
[see picture - The Mages Bounty for class bonuses]

Warrior
Health -> Stamina
[see picture - The Warriors Bounty for class bonuses]

:: LOCATION

A chest located in the Dragonsreach Dungeon in Whiterun. It is locked and needs a key which can be found “where you might normally end up if you get caught” *hint hint*

:: TECHNICAL

Each ring leeches 50% of a stat and put those points into another stat.

Example: If I have 100 health and 100 stamina and I put on the Ranger ring which leeches 50% of my Stamina and puts it into Health, I will now have 150 Health and 50 Stamina.

Example 2: 245 Magicka & 185 Health -> Mage ring - > 337 Magicka & 92 Health

:: ISSUES / BUGS

It ain't perfect but as long as you keep the following in mind then it should work out fine.

1/ - This doesn't apply to you if you decide to use only 1 ring OR if you decide to use either the Mage or Warrior with the Ranger. If you choose to use Mage with Warrior [and not everyone would like a mage swapping with warrior etc] Unequip a ring before equipping another. Since both the Mage and Warrior ring leech from your Health, you can die swapping the Mage and Warrior ring back and forth a few times.

[if anyone wants to take a stab at the script, hit me up and we can update it with credit to you]

Again - This is only a concern if you swap the Mage and Warrior rings in your inventory a few times. Not a big deal but it needs to be mentioned in case you suddenly find yourself dead.

2/ - This applies to all ring - When you level and or raise one of the three stats and are wearing a ring that leeches from that same stat the % going into the other stat will not adjust until you unequip the ring then requip it. Basically there is no "live" update. It calculated the % to swap from a stat when you put it on - not while you're wearing it.

Example: If you raise health while wearing a ring that takes from health, unequip the ring then equip it to get the updated % from your new health total. [do this for any stat you change which you’re using to adjust another]

3/ - No 3. Only two. Don’t swap rings [unequip one then equip the other] and to adjust the % when you raise the stat you’re leeching from, take that ring off then put it back on.

:: FEEDBACK WELCOME

Want more specialized rings? Say so in the comments. I made three homogenized Rings for three generalized classes. I could definitely make specialized rings for mixed/hybrid classes.

I'm definitely interested in feedback from those who play with the Rangers Bounty or the Warriors Bounty [i'm currently playing with the mages bounty so i adjusted the bonuses based on my last few levels of play]

I want your opinions based on a decent amount of playtime. Say between 5 levels worth if you can manage it that long. I'd also like to know what level your character is and what difficulty level you're playing.

Just started a new character. Trying to go Bower. Using the Rangers Bounty helps out a lot in these early levels. Can't say it's really OP at this point since I can still get one hit killed but with the right perks and stealth, I'm managing.

I'm down with hybrid class rings. Like Archer/Conjurers - Melee/Archer - Mage/Dual Daggers etc.

Great idea though. Good mod.

I realize that I was looking at it more along the lines of Further customizing the class. I saw this mod and instantly thought of a more refined way of preventing an "all" character. I always end up with a warrior that uses sword, magic, and bows. I would love to see a mod that restricts me from a path and strengthens another. Thats what I figured this was. I misunderstood.

The whole point of the Parasitic effect was to leech from important stat and put it into another important stat.

If it was done your way then there would be no risk . If the leeching effect only took away from something you didn’t need then there would be no balance of power.

The Mage loses health but gains extra Magicka. They are more likely to die unless they can juggle the spells properly and fast enough. The Ranger loses their Stamina for increased Health so they can take more up-close damage at a cost of bow blocks and Steady Hand and the Warrior loses Health for more Stamina so they can powerswing/block more often rather than standing there tanking in heavy gear.

Not to mention the class bonuses.

Close to what I want. However I don't want my health halved as a warrior. Halving Magicka makes more sense. As a Ranger or master of stealth, ranged combat taking from health and adding to stamina seems to make more sence. A mage who spends his time as a thinker and not a survivor could steal from his stamina pool.

I just checked with an earlier game and the key is there. You'll smack yourself when you find it.
