Description
The Corys Class Carrier is a large command and support ship.

It can transport up to 15 small or medium sized fighters or other small ships in its hangars. Additionaly 20 combat drones can be deployed. Both hangar sections can be pressurized seperately. The hangar layout makes it possible to deploy all fighters in a short time. The drones can be controlled with Rdav's fleet command script.

Equipped with 26 gatling turrets and 12 missile turrets (all with welders for self repair) the Corys Class has a good firepower. However it is only lightly armoured to make a good maneuverability possible. 4 forward facing decoy launchers can fire small probes equipped with decoys to distract the enemy's automatic defences and protect friendly ships. The Corys Class is ment to be a second line vessel, supporting the main battleships with its fighters, drones and decoys.

Despite the sole use of ion thrusters the ships acceleration is good, as well as the turning rate. With the powerfull jump drive up to 5000 km jump distance is possible. The ship is powered by 4 large and 124 small reactors as well as a total of 964 batteries, all scattered across the ship to prevent power loss. 48 hydrogen tanks, 16 oxygen generators, 10 large cargo containers, 8 assemblers, 6 refineries and a large oxygen reserve can be used to refuel fighters or repair other ships.

The Quarters have enough room for a crew of 140. 20 escape pods are available on the top and the bottom of the ship. Several LCD panels inside point out the way to the important rooms. All relevant Blocks have been grouped up for easier use.


The flight seat in the CIC has been set up to provide all major controll functions.

Important:
This ship uses several rotors and scripts. Trigger the "Timer Block - Start Systems" once, it will lock all rotors and start the scripts. You can find the timer in the flight seat in CIC, page 9, nr. 1.



Escape Pods:

Once you sit in one, you only have to trigger the timer. The pod will then automatically travel to the gps coordinates 0,0,0. This is the location of the earth-like planet in standard world. If there is no planet there and/or you don't use realistic inventory size, you have to adjust the pods to work correctly.

Because of the ship's size this script is only triggered once a second, to prevent massive lag. That means the startup will take very long. You can speed it up by setting the timer to "trigger now" itself.

The script is inactive after pasting the ship. To start it, trigger the "Timer Block - Start Fleet Command" in the flight seat in CIC, page 9, nr. 3.

I used this one mod to make the ship more durable. It is completely optional, the ship will work fine without it.

Turning off the shadows reduces CPU load a lot.
If you find any bugs, please let me know.
Build in development branch, but should work in stable too.

Great looking ship. The interior looks like a rearrangement could hold more fighters. You have six walls and only two are holding fighters. I think you can fit double the quantity of fighters without seeming cramped.

@JCapt Yes, I thought about that. But all cannons I came up with were either too large, so that I would have had to alter the design, or so small that they felt too weak for a ship of this size.
So I dropped the Idea in favor of a larger hangar and the decoy launchers.

Nice ship! I love the design! Have you thought about adding a grav cannon to this beautiful ship You have done a great job on the exterior. The front looks terrific!
I'm going to see if I can make a ship inspired by this general design.

Damn Midgard, This is your best work yet! I ~REALLY~ Like the ribbed mid section and the use of things like piston tops to add Character to the Hull. Well done!
