Description
Are you tired of happiness being by far the most significant determiner of success?
Are you tired of strategies where swarming the enemy early pays off.
This mod was built closely with the Empire Building Mod in mind.
Happiness effects are reduced about 18% overall. This opens the doors to winning with population, gold, building and other strategies that aren't so tied to happiness.
Research has been uncoupled from happiness about 40%, making it about 40% slower across the game speeds.
New city level added for population players.
Since Steam keeps cutting off the changelog, I've created a dropbox file below that includes the long readme as well as the viewable .acp file for other modders.

Under Settings/City Sizes
Village needs 3400 gets 1 and 3 extra production and gold
Town needs plus 1400 at 7400 and gets 3 and 5 extra production and gold
City needs plus 3000 at 15000 and gets 4 and 9 extra production and gold
Metropolis needs plus 5500 at 27500 and gets 5 and 12 extra production and gold. Always walled
New! MetropolisBig needs 40000 and gets 8 and 16 production and gold over a Metropolis.
I only added this new option into CityLogic. It needs to be added to core categories to show up in-game as a new icon and name.
When you reach 40000, the production and gold do increase, but it still says "Metropolis."

Lower Resistance for Ai Cheat Bonus by 1
Lower Backstab penalty by 1 for all but physical and spirit backstab.
Reason: Slightly more straightforward battles
Lowered AI estimate of backstab by
Guards overestimate your power less often.
Decrease lucky chance by 15% and Lucky damage boost by 15%.
Slight increase to base gold (25-28) income to offset increased salaries of troops.
Slight inrease in starting knowledge income to offset the large reductions in Diplomacy and Settings.
Increased based disjunct of strategic spell points to 10%.
Increase quest difficulty for each military level, presumably to get better rewards.
Very minor upgrades for Race Command Settings makes it a bit harder to become a Champion for each race
Decrease AI targeting bonus on killable units by 10%.

Happiness is just way too powerful in the game. I play Beacon towers and an enemy beacon or two tower really means game over without this mod. There are many other ways to win.

Sounds like an interesting gameplay change. I might try that in the next new game round. Thanks for the work, m8!

Steam truncated the descrip for some reason last night. Development is ongoing and I have other versions I can publish. This one is meant for use with Empire Build Mod or another variant. It is not necessary to have that mod, but give this mod a higher ranking to see the effects.
