Description
Adds the Goths to the base game.

The Goths were a Germanic tribe of Scandinavian origins whose two branches, Visigoths and Ostrogoths, played a significant role in the fall of the Roman Empire. Although sharing common language, customs and beliefs, the Visigoths and Ostrogoths followed divergent paths and each founded a medieval kingdom.

Note:
- This civilization requires either the Brave New World or the Gods and Kings expansion.
- Updates to the Mod will most likely break save games. Please do not update until you are ready to begin a new game.
- The mod uses a UU graphic from a Gods and Kings scenario. If you do not have the second expansion, the mod will automatically switch to a backup graphic. (This is aesthetic only and does not affect gameplay).

Leader: Alaric

UA: Sacker of Rome: Non-mounted land military units may use enemy roads before the Industrial Era. Capturing a foreign Capital triggers a Golden Age.

UU: Gadrauht: Replaces Swordsman. Heals double when pillaging a non-road Improvement. +15% Combat Strength in Rough Terrain

UB: Hov: Replaces Stable. +1 Faith per Horse, Sheep, Cattle. +10% Land Unit Production (instead of +15% Mounted Unit Production). -10% Production Cost.

@Selethane
My older mods don't get enough traffic these days that they often get taken down for inactivity from the free hosting sites. A copy might still be available on civfanatics. Otherwise, you can still use one of the Steam Workshop Downloader websites to get a copy.

Well shit, that sucks. Is there not somewhere, like google, where you could store the file @Tomatekh ?

If it's now showing up in your game, it's likely a longstanding Steam Workshop issue where Steam doesn't properly download the mod. It's not on my end and the only way to really fix it is to unsubscribe/resubscribe until Steam finally works. I used to be able to host an independent download to manually install my mods and bypass the issue, but I'm no longer able to do so.

@Kleeee
Honestly, the Goths are one of the more boring mods I released. Xia, Sioux, Kuikuro are probably my best mod civs. The Goths are popular because they were one of the first civ mods posted on the workshop and with good art (which originally was taken entirely from one of the Viking scenarios but now also has art from the fantastic Janboruta). So, there wasn’t many options when it was first available, and then sort of became a self-increasing loop where people subscribed because it was already at the top of the list.

I still don't understand how this civ is the most subscribed civ all the time.

Enabling this mod currently breaks the game upon clicking "next" on the mod selection screen. Alone or with others, this mod is causing the problem. I would really like to see this fixed, since is my favorite goths mod out there.

Can confirm that subscribing does not seem to add mod to game

TBK, you are aware that scandinavians are germanics? Just northern germanics, who linguistically split at some point in history?
