Description
Commanders from the Past adds three Company of Heroes 1 themed commanders to each faction while retaining the Company of Heroes 2 ability unlock system. Ability values from the first game were used as an orientation in the creation process of many commander abilities. Some were replaced entirely to reinvigorate certain commanders or improve correspondence with the faction they belong to.

Play the default game with just new commanders. Everything outside of commanders with the exception of UI and minor visual changes is unchanged. Tired of playing with the same pair of bland and rather boring commanders? Experience influential commanders whose choice has a significant impact on the game.

They are designed to feel like powerful DLC commanders without abilities that act like instant-win buttons, something that was an issue when Elite Troops and Soviet Industry were released back in 2013.

Includes UI+, an extension based on the Better-Info-Mod
  • Detailed Unit Descriptions: All units have more informative yellow extra texts.
  • Numeral Veterancy Descriptions: Hovering over veterancy rank stars is more informative and no longer shows outdated/wrong information.
  • Miscellaneous Improvements: Revised the description of some units, abilities and upgrades.
  • Up-to-date: Includes the default game June 22nd 2020 patch changes and onwards, outdated modding tool attributes were not used a reference.

Cosmetic bulletin unit:
  • Wehrmacht Grenadiers: An Osttruppen bulletin in your loadout unlocks Osttruppen at the Infanterie Kompanie.

Notes:
  • AI does not utilize any commanders.
  • The mod language is English. Playing the game with an English localization file is recommended, but not required.

How to use:
  1. Subscribe.
  2. In the game main menu: Press 'Online & Skirmish', followed by 'Create Custom Game'.
  3. Click 'Options', then 'Tuning Pack', and choose 'Commanders from the Past' from the list.
  4. Start the game.
  5. Choose any equipped default commander to gain access to the new commanders.

More health doesn't seem like a very good idea from a balance perspective, at least not without added drawbacks. The Wehrmacht King Tiger isn't supposed to withstand packs of three to four premium allied tank destroyers (M36, SU-85, Firefly) without support.

Terror's King Tiger still weak, I think it needs 3000HP.

No worries, you don't sound rude at all. Comments like these are welcome.

I think that the V1 Rocket was cooler as well, at least on paper. Until someone calls it in, expecting a distinct audio cue and the massive explosion it is known for, and to their disappointment, it's just the Railway Artillery with an invisible projectile. If I find a way to create a satisfying explosion and ground deformation effect, the V1 Rocket will come back.

For now, the previous Terror Tiger Ace is still available by equipping the 'Elefant Frenzy' (Elefants gain veterancy 10% faster) bulletin.

don't want to sound rude at all. i love this mod and am happy to see it updated. i just think the v1 rocket and tiger tank were cooler units to use in the terror doctrine, being so iconic. otherwise awesome update

Donate? As in, money? I really appreciate your kind offer, but I can't accept cash or similar for a CoH2 mod that nobody asked for in the first place. I loaded multiple large 4v4 maps with filled slots and spawned the Commissar but didn't crash on any so far. Feel free to write map names here if any crashes happen in the future and I'll investigate further. Thank you.
