Oxygen Station - Part II: The Final Challenge

Description
Description

This is the second and last part of this little mappack I made 2 years ago! Although the puzzles were all fully finished and even tested properly, it took some more time to polish the details and to develop the beginning and the end of this second map... I eventually gave a sense to the mappack and joined this story to another one.... I hope you'll find interesting what's behind this ;)

This is a map for experienced players. I've tried my best again to be innovative and use some interesting mechanics involving the bounce gel, like in Part I. Despite the large size of the rooms, this is only one puzzle, although I still needed all that space for it.

The map requires a certain ability at bouncing and jumping around on blue gel. You will need to control your moves in the air in order to solve these tasks. I really think this is a very funny map, but you'll need some imagination, persistence and lots of thinking with portals to solve it.

For the more experienced players, there are 3 easter eggs to find! There are 2 special companion cubes plus one ratman's den ;) Reaching them will require extra ability to get the gel to certain spots... good luck!

A solution video will be available, but not for a while... I'd like to leave a time before posting the solution in order to allow players to solve it by themselves. Don't hesitate to ask for hints though, please.

Greykarel and Headshot, please, do not post any video! :p

In the meantime, these tips might help you:

- The bounce gel flying up and down through 2 portals on the floor will slowly lose momentum (height)
- If you think the timer is too tight, you might not be performing an intended move!
- Make use of the different heights you can reach to bounce on the gel and reach new edges!

Personal Note

Same as I said in Part I... I know my maps are more difficult than the average, many times convolutedly or unnecessarily difficult, but I would like to ask everyone to don't underrate the map only because you cannot solve it, I think there are more variables to take into account than just the difficulty level before rating, and also I encourage everyone to ask for hints before giving up ;)

Credits & Thanks

- Thanks to Greykarel and Headshot for beta-testing this challenge and for supporting this project offering me always useful advices to improve the puzzles.
- Thanks to Burnfingers for the amazing Skybox textures "Interstellar". Taken from Gamebanana[gamebanana.com]
- Thanks to Rimando Nillo, Jr. for the awesome "Dancing juice" font!
- Thanks to my dear mate Vane, for all her work in this mappack (signage, Chell's retexturing, the ratman's den awesome overlay...) but on top of that, for her patience with me and her neverending support and illusion on all my projects!
- Main song "Course to Enceladus" and rest of the score by josepezdj. Find it at my SoundCloud[soundcloud.com]

Saving

There are a few checkpoints already in the map that will save your progress and a pop-up message will let you know. I made it so the progress is always saved in a file called oxygen01. This way you can reload it by typing on the console load oxygen01 without erasing any other previous savegame.

Of course you can still use F6 to quicksave the game... but that would erase previously saved files, as you know.

@Master_64: Thanks for the nice comments! and thanks for playing! I'm so happy that you beat it! The end is a node to my hopefully-one-day-upcoming mod "The Enceladus Initiative ", the story begins there in the Oxygen Station ;) Cheers!

I know I said part 1 of this series was the hardest map ever, but it's safe to say this is even harder than it. Quite satisfying to beat! Again, congrats to everyone else who managed to complete this. :p2cube:

I guess it's kinda my fault for going after companions... But they are so tedious, repetitive and boring :steambored: It really soured the overall experience of the map :/

@Telemachus: greetings! Thanks for playing this, and so sorry for the late reply (I'm quite busy raising a child!) :) Well, the part where you are stuck in is indeed the most difficult part. The cube needs to be on that button in order to make possible that you get to dot 4 with your portals... however, you should have already thought of how to get to dot 4 beforehand... and if I mentioned your portals, don't you think there's another fizzler that must be off to get to dot 4 with your portals intact? ;) This is all about bouncing, so you must paint some key spots with the bouncing gel, and your goal is to get out of there to dot 4 by bouncing.
I hope those hints help you to continue, you will still need to spend some time around though. Another brief hint: you can transport the gel to maaany places you might not know yet, be creative with the funnel and your portals! Cheers!
