This mod adds Florans from the Starbound game.

They are tough and very resistant to gibing and fall damage but their jetpacks are a bit underpowered. Florans are usually no match for most factions unless they get their hands on foreign equipment.

Leaf: A new material used in some Floran bodyparts like their leaf hair. It's also used in their interaction with terrain so they don't destroy it as fast when walking over it.

Bonemold:
A new material stronger than Bone. Most Floran weapons and armor are made of this material.

Floran Greenfinger:
The Brain unit for this faction. They are slightly more resistant to damage but are also heavier. They wear modern clothing, a lightly armored vest, and a full bonemold helm that will protect the head from some direct hits.

Floran Tribal:
The weakest unit in the Floran faction. They are the lightest ones so their jetpacks won't struggle when lifting them. They wear no body armor but their bodies are tougher than human ones. They have a chance to spawn with a weak bonemold mask.

Floran Hunter:
Hunters are better with guns and wear a bit more armor. They only wear bonemold helms and unarmored pants but that's enough for them. They are better at using guns but are specially proficient with sniper rifles.

Floran Warrior:
Florans clad in leather and bonemold armor. They are tougher and get attack speed bonusses with Impalers and Maulers but they are less agile and not as good with guns.

Floran Merc:
Mercs have access to better equipment, are a bit tougher and are good snipers. They wear light armor and have a chance to spawn with a metal mask made from the remains of slain foes.

Stabber:
A light bonemold knife. It can only damage unarmored bodyparts but it's almost silent and has chances to disarm the target. It gets an attack speed bonus and cannot be damaged when equipped by Florans.

Impaler:
A bonemold spear. It's slower but has better reach and can damage armored targets. It has chances to disarm targets. It gets an attack speed bonus when equipped by Floran Tribals and Warriors.

Mauler:
A bonemold axe. It's the deadliest melee weapon but also the slowest one. It can make short work of unarmored targets and it's also effective against armored ones. It gets an attack speed bonus when equipped by Floran Warriors.

Leafguard:
A small bonemold/leaf shield. It offers decent protection against upcoming projectiles but it doesn't last much. Useful when paired with a melee weapon or one handed guns.

Bonewall:
A stronger, bigger but also heavier bonemold shield. The best shield for close combat. It can stop most bullets but machine guns will break it fast, even if the bullets bounce off.

Stinger:
A Floran semi-automatic spike thrower. A somewhat primitive handgun that silently fires bonemold spikes at a moderate speed. The spikes do less damage at longer distances and they need to be reloaded into the gun one by one.

Prickler:
It's an off-hand version of the Stinger so it can be used with other one-handed weapons. Usually paired with a Stinger but it can be used with melee weapons instead of a shield for a different advantage in melee combat.

Shredder:
A short range spike scattergun. It has the ability to fire all the loaded spikes at the same time, which can be lethal to unarmored targets. This gun suffers from the same disadvantages as the Stinger.

Raider:
A Floran fully automatic spike thrower. It's effective at medium range and its fire rate and moderate damage makes this gun a versatile choice for any Floran. As with these kind of archaic weapons, it suffers from the usual spike thrower disadvantages.

Marauder:
A more advanced version of the Raider. This one uses magazines and has a higher rate of fire but it's less accurate and louder. Works well with the lightly armored mercs.

Skewer:
A long range spike thrower comparable to a modern sniper rifle. It fires bigger spikes at higher speeds, making this gun the deadliest Floran weapon. Floran Hunters and Mercs get an aiming range bonus when crouching with this weapon equipped.

Thornnade:
It's a grenade made of Thorn fruit and a volatile liquid. The explosion releases spikes in all directions. It's set to explode when you start the throw, not when thrown so if you don't release it, it will explode in your hands. It's very volatile so it might even explode when disturbed with harmless particles.

Sure. I'll eventually add the piece of code that directly loads from the vanilla ronin, though. All of my factions are starting to rely on vanilla content as a way to shrink the code in the ini files and remove otherwise redundant code.

Problem solved, I had to make the Revampered versions load some redundant files that were striked out, but everything is easy-going now. Ronin Revampered caused problems with both this and the Novakids mod. Should I post a fix for this on Novakids, since more people will see it on the new mod?
Lobsterperson 5 Jun, 2019 @ 3:43pm
Oh, I'm a doofus. I was using Ronin Revampered, which makes the default Ronin Handguns.ini not load. I'll just insert the code, thanks for the help!

Try to replace the magazine code with this one:

AddAmmo = Magazine
CopyOf = Ronin.rte/Magazine Peacemaker
PresetName = Magazine Stinger
RoundCount = 9
RegularRound = Round
CopyOf = Round Stinger

Yeah, you are right. There's nothing there that should cause this... unless. Have you by any chance have a mod with something called Peacemaker? Magazine Stinger is a copy of a vanilla item called like that but if there's a mod with with an item with the same name... that might cause an issue like that. This would also happen if by any chance you have edited the vanilla content.

Hmm... I'll give it a look.
Lobsterperson 5 Jun, 2019 @ 12:31am
I'm suddenly getting an error at around line 41 of Handguns.ini. It says it fails to load a "Magazine Stinger," even though Magazine Stinger is right above it, spelled the same, with the right code, and everything else.
I'm not really sure what's actually wrong here.

Alright, Novakids have been implemented.

I replaced the jumping with proper jetpacks and it makes this and the Avian faction so much deadly. I'll make this change in them so the AI can properly use them, at least till someone develops an AI lua that can operate actors with jumppacks. Also, I kinda like the bottlecap drops in my fallout factions so I'll do something similar with these ones. They will drop Pixels, which can be harvested as gold.
