Description
Welcome to Guardian Bay!

You've been given the development rights to a previously untouched piece of land. Will it become home to a massive metropolis? Or perhaps several quaint little villages? What you do with it is entirely up to you.

Details:
- Temperate map.
- Completely hand crafted, not based on a real world terrain.
- Plenty of open space.
- Two buildable areas: The lower bay and the massive upper plateau.
- Varied landscape: Rolling hills, large meadows, high cliffs, waterfalls, lakes and a large bay.
- Suitable for various play styles.
- Available connections: Highway, Rail, Ship, Plane.
- Available resources: Ore, Fertile and Forestry.
- Highway and Rail available on starting tile.
- Water spawn and drain in the starting tile for easy pumping and sewage.
- Scenic railway winding its way across the cliff.
- Highway climb up the cliff with view across the bay and lake.

Designed for use with the 81 Tiles mod. Also playable with the vanilla 9 tiles or the 25 tiles mod.

The map uses the brilliant Monte Belo 4K theme.

The screenshots were taken with the San Minato LUT and the Realistic LUT

The starting tile intersection is All Through The Night by agusingnavy. All its Network Extensions roads have been changed to Vanilla roads, so you won't need Network Extensions.

If you want to play it in a different environment (For instance, winter), you can use the Environment Changer (+ Improved Theme Selection) mod. For an example, see the winter screenshot. It uses the Väterchen Frost - Winter theme with the Realistic LUT and the classic sunlight setting from Daylight Classic.

To change a single texture in the theme, you can use Theme Mixer.

This is my first attempt at making a serious map. If you run into any problems or have any questions, please let me know!

And of course all comments, likes and favs are much appreciated! I'd love to see the city you build on it! :)

@Woazzaaa Yes, you can load any map without the listed map theme, it'll just use the game's vanilla theme :)

Is it possible to play this map without the required theme ? My PC is good, but not THAT good (considering I already use a lot of mods and assets)

Guardian Bay has been my most recent choice in map for my current city. Admittedly, I didn't originally use 81 tiles, and so was bending over backwards trying to accommodate city growth into areas where I probably shouldn't have.

Once I wised up though, I started building out into the valleys and hills, linking sleepy villages to a bustling industrial city center. My goodness, the map is absolutely gorgeous. I got a view the other day of the sun rising into a sleepy suburban valley to start the day. Thanks for the incredible work Aquila.

Excellent map. I'm only at about 65k residents so far, but having a lot of fun with this one. Thanks for your work!

Great map, but I found a small inaccuracy. From what you wrote I'm guessing you're kind of a perfectionist, as I am, so I would like to point out that the railway one the other side of the starting area, about 30U from the roundabout has a "wrong" bend, you notice it with the 2 electricity masts that are too close together and will se that there is a wrong bend there. :steammocking:

Noice. Screens remind me a bit of the Bay of Islands [en.wikipedia.org] in Western Newfoundland. Gonna giver a go.
