Omega Outpost" was originally a RPG setting some friends and i came up with about 10 years ago.
It was inspired from the game "Starflight" from 1986 and is set several thousand years later.

It is about a small colony, that managed to survive a Galactic wide invasion from a insectoid species.
When the Colonies government realized that their civilisation was about to fall, a plan arised to put everyone in cryo sleep and shut down everything else.
Despite all their effords to stay under the radar, they where found and their planet was bombarded from orbit. All technology and life on the surface was completely obliterated.
Only the deepest caverns, where the cryo chambers where stored, couldn't be reached by the falling death from above and stayed relatively unharmed. Nevertheless, something went wrong and the survivors woke up several thousand years later with almost all their technology gone.
The descendants of the awaken colonists began to rebuild their civilization almost from scratch again.
When they found a massive spaceship hidden in the mountains, their technology got kickstarted again and after only few generations they where able to rebuild and rediscover most of what was lost and forgotten and they could even develop basic a space program.

Step by step they got back into building spaceships and began to cautiously scout the local star system and the close stellar neighborhood, seeking for materials, allies while trying to stay undetected by possible enemy forces.
