Not For Sale!

In 1 collection by LeaderEnemyBoss
Long War 2 Modlist
47 items
Description
This Mod was originally designed for LW2. It should work in vanilla, but you need the Community Highlander. This function has not been tested, please report issues.

Provides For Sale/Not For Sale Lists. Items marked as "Not For Sale" can no longer roll as "very Interested" in the black market except when there are no other suitable items to sell. The new "Sale List"-Menu can be found under the Engineering tab in the Avenger screen. People who like to micromanage their equipment to increase the chances of desirable items rolling as "very interested" should love this mod.

Introduction
You know the feeling. You've got 50 Trooper corpses lieing around, end of the month is near, and you eagerly hope that maybe the black market will be interested in your stinking backyard corpse pile. But alas the people at black-mart are way more intrigued by your new shiny laser weapons and your few elite upgrades. Understandable, but unfortunate for an aspiring commander!

This mod aims to make this less likely to happen. A newly added "Sale List" menu lets you mark specific Items as "Not For Sale". These items can no longer roll as "Items of Interest" in the future (except when there arent enough suitable alternatives). Note: You can still sell these Items as usual! By default all Items are marked as "For Sale". I would recommend to check this list before the end of each month, since newly aquired equipment (like the first laser weapons etc.) is marked as "for sale" by default.

But isn't this cheating?
No. It is already possible to achieve pretty much the same result by putting all your upgrades on weapons, and equipping all your weapons, armors etc. to soldiers. Only items that lie around unused can roll as "very interested". The problem: this process is very tedius. Also sometimes you do all this one day before the end of the month, then suddenly a wild supply raid appears. So you send your best troops, make all equipment available again .... aaand now you have repeat the whole ordeal!

To prevent abuse, only the following (easily equippable) items can be put on the "Not For Sale" List: weapons, armors, utility items (grenades, medikits, etc.) and weapon upgrades. You can NOT mark corpses, pcs, datapads, etc. as "Not For Sale"!

OBJECTION!
"But I have 10 old laser cannons lying around and only 7 gunners. Your mod allows me to cheat!"
- Well yes, in this specifc case, my mod allows you to prevent items from rolling as items of interes, that you would have to sell otherwise. However in this case I beg to question: why dont you just sell them anyway? Why keep a stockpile of unused obsolete weapons around? I dont think this is a huge issue, the QoL improvement outweighs the cons.

Compatibility
This mod should have no compatibility issues with other LW2 compatible mods. However the way I decided which items are able to be listed as "Not For Sale" is a bit lazy, so if you experience any modded items not appearing in the list like they should, just message me. If the mod is important enough, I will probably accomodate it.

On Bugs/Bug Reports
I am only a simple modder, and I make mistakes. If you think you noticed a bug, it would be extremely helpful if you can provide a savegame and maybe a screenshot. This is also the first time I extensively used gamestates, so if you notice lists not saving properly, message me ;).

Donations
As usual, donations are not required at all ;), but since sometimes people ask, here we go:

Trying to use in WotC and says missing dependency.

I have Highlander so it's not that.

Black Market Usage https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=648410303 appears to 'turn off' this mod. You get this mods' buttons without their effect even though there is no conflict. Thought I'd share.

Since nobody's been commenting for a few months I thought I'd post. Just tested with WOTC, seemed to be working fine. I didn't test extensively, but after Gatecrasher the Not For Sale interface appeared to be fully functional. Edit: Using the current stable Highlander of course. I should have included that.

mods cant overwrite files. Do you use it with lw2 or vanilla?
yappy118 8 May, 2017 @ 6:35pm
My game would refuse to load. In restoring it, I discovered there was a missing file. I laboriously eliminated possibilities until 'Not for Sale' stood out as the culprit; it appears to overwrite permanently (?) a file, leaving it broken. However, it does work as advertized. I am really sorry to have to let it go.

It would be cool if you made it so you can put pcs as not for sale after obtaining the continent bonus that allows pcs to be replaced without destroying them
LeaderEnemyBoss  [author] 30 Mar, 2017 @ 2:21pm
Currently this is intended. There is actually a decision involved whether you want to place your PCS on or soldier or sell it before the end of the month since you cant just "unequip" PCS afterwards. In this case marking them "Not For Sale" would essentially be cheating.
