Battle Fog Removal

Description
This is a quick and dirty removal of the fog in battle environments as requested. It removes all environmental fog from the battle maps with mixed results. Some look better, some worse, none look as good as they could imo.

So this shouldnt be treated as a finished mod, i'm putting it up in the hopes of getting some feedback as theres simply too many maps to go through individually and still have time to actually do some modding. So all suggestions here are very welcome.

Should be compatible with most mods, think theres a couple which change the weather which probably arent. Definitely savegame compatible

Also Depth of field is off for a couple of the screenshots, my recommendation is to leave it on.

greetings, any chance you create a mod like this for warhammer 2?

Have you tried out half or even quarter strength fog? The intensity of the fog in a lot of maps annoys me but as you said there are mixed results and perhaps a half way point would look better.

Not sure what you mean by the weather line, the environment files are very complex and have 200+ variables. The suns position can be editied via direction elevation and azimuth settings, theres also an rgb color setting and a color scale as well as a section for the sun mesh. I guess what you're looking for would be an azimuth of zero and elevation of 80ish though in reality it varies widely on location and time of year.

So yes you can do that easily enough, though it might not have the effect you want due to the large oamount of other variables that go into lighting the scene

Hi Casuir,

I was thinking... do you know if it's possible to set the time of day for custom battles? I mean, the sun's position. I would like to set it to be "mid day" (sun always right over the center of the battlefield). Can it be done via editing of that same 'weather' line?

You can press K to hide the UI for screenshots.
Nice mod though

It's more than enough for me, thanks again man.

TBH, i dont particularly like the way they look with no fog at all, many are too dark and some of the weather effects should really have fog, however going through each environment, making adjustments, packing the mod and loading the game for testing is a pretty time consuming and tedious process. If anyones willing to collaberate on a joint venture i'm very open to that.

I can write a tool, would be an online thing as i only know web programming php/javascript mainly, that could import and make the environment files easier to read and visualize, and export a changed .environment or .pack file

yes, thats the part, the color section directly after as well though i didnt touch that as i was just removing the fog. Theres 2 different types of fog, height and distance, but i havent looked at them enough to give you a concrete explanation on how the work with battles.

The actual files are weather conditions for different regions, I dont know if custom maps come with their own weather as i havent used terry, but i'd be surprised if they did.
