The Siege of Norsca

Description
Map designed for the Community Map Making Challenge - Chivalry

Description
When CA announced the map making challenge, this idea instantly popped up for me after having played the Bretonnian campaign and making war in Norsca for the final quest battle.

I was so impressed by these noble Bretonnian armies to sally out of their homeland, to the cold and deadly northern lands, simply in an act of noble deeds. This map is designed to show the chivalry of striking back on the voefully un-chivalrous marauding Chaos northmen, beating them out of their own homes.

Map Layout
The idea of this map was to make a huge Norscan port settlement, with lots of varied terrain and locations to fight over. Norscan tribes rarely take much pride in their architecture, so I wanted to make a defensive settlement more based on the terrain. There are a lot of cliffs and platforms that give the defenders the ability to choose how the battle will be fought - whether it is in open areas that give full potential to cavalry management, tight choke points where even a minor force can defend the line, or by using platforms and terrain to gain positional advantages. At the same time, I didn't want too much instances on the map that obstructs view or gameplay, trying to give a smooth gameplay experience.

The attackers deploy in the north outside of the settlement, while the defenders have the ability to deploy wherever they want inside of the settlement. I recommend large battles, but smaller encounters are definitely still playable.

Details
There's a lot of attention to detail and I tried to make every section of the settlement unique somehow. I wanted to make sure the map represented as many aspects of the Norscan tribes represented as possible, such as its buildings, traditions, ships, worship and general brutality.
There's (as far as I know) no support in the editor to make big portions of water outside of the play area, so this was a real challenge to make! If you zoom in under the water, you'll see that there's trees and other terrain pieces underneath the surface.

Though I spent a lot of time making sure that no object was misplaced or weirdly angled, I might have missed something. Please notify me if you notice something that looks out of order!

Awsome map, really gives the feel of an chaos barbarian village!

Only issue I see is that some of the choke points can't be clicked through. You have to move the camera all the way to the other side to target things near the choke point. Pathing is fine, but targeting is blocked.

yeah me too, vanilla norsca is completely pointless and it would be amazing if there were mods to spice it up a bit; especially the battle maps! :)
