The wooden spear also has higher durability, and 1 plank sawed into 8 sturdy sticks can make a "wooden spear" each sturdy stick compared to 1 plank making 1 "crafted spear".
Correct; it provides other ways to make them, but doesn't modify the tools themselves (damage, durability, etc.) in any way.

As per the first two comments, it most assuredly is; I'm no artist, and the mod required an image to upload, so I googled "Stone axe" and that's what I got. :p

I confirmed today that it does; sometimes, when updating to a new version, the mods become deactivated, but if you disable and reenable them, they should work just fine.
