After the End - A Mighty Fortress

Description
"After 'the Event' Old America descended into chaos. The true followers of Christ were attacked on all sides. From the North, idolatrous pagans, Anabaptists and She-Papists press down on us. From the South, Voodoo sorcerers and their ilk raid our shores. To the West, the heretical tribes sack us on behalf of their “snake god”. Worst of all however is the Pope in New Rome who plots constantly for our downfall. At times the Holy Columbian Confederacy seems doomed to fall. However, we shall not fear. For Christ is our mighty fortress, and by his strength we will hold back the idolatrous and push the Gospel into places that long ago abandoned it."

Hey everyone, this is a non-legitimate expansion to the CK2 mod, “After the End.” An absolutely stunning mod which takes CK2 and puts it into future post-apocalyptic America. I developed this mod with the intention of making the Evangelicals more interesting. As of right now they are like the base game Orthodox who do not have anything special. This is by no means the developers fault, they are way too busy finishing and creating new and awesome content. I just find this universe and mod so intriguing that I thought I would add stuff to it.

Originally I planned on releasing this months ago but stopped when the mod went on hiatus. I have decided to release it now with the Fan Fork (another amazing mod) being released in its 0.2 version. It works with both the original and the Fan Fork. Both the developers of the original and the Fan Fork are ten times better than me and I enjoy playing their mods immensely.

Now onto the actual features:
-Thirty odd new events that are mainly for Evangelicals but for others as well.
-Choose to support Arminians or Calvinists, each of which grant you different benefits.
-New piety mechanic that allows you to trade piety in exchange for boons.
-New Evangelical ruler in New Jersey with narrative events.
-7 new songs for Evangelicals (and their heretics.)
Fuller credits in the .zipEnjoy playing!tl;dr-new events, decisions, and mechanics for evangelicals and their heretics.

Still the best Crusader Kings mod ever made, it makes ATE so much better. If only the CK3 version had this.

Does this mod work with the most resent version?

@Jo'Geran thanks for the suggestions. Yeah I think those are all good critiques. As far as the "spend piety" killing immersion. I totally get it, I'm just not quite sure. How to say that in a way that is more immersion friendly. I'm open to suggestions. Should be a quick fix.
@Tobywolf I'm not really sure. I haven't encountered that problem, and I have both this and Elder Kings installed. I think that the best way to fix would be to unsubscribe from both of them wipe them manually from your /ck2/mods folder and then sub back to them and see if that fixes the issue.

Hey, great mod, really love mods that flesh out religious groups, and it's always cool to have new events.

I hope you don't mind constructive feedback:

-"Spend Piety"seems overpowered. I like the idea of having something to spend piety on, but there's lots of weirdness. The price is incredibly low, there doesn't seem to be an upper limit, and as soon as it expires you can refresh it immediately. No other religion has anything even close to this.
-Some decisions feel a little clunky: Like having two separate decisions for choosing your school, or the spend piety decision being called "spend piety" making it seem a bit mechanical. It's perfectly functional, it just kills immersion a little.
-The 25 negative trait opinion between Calvinists and Arminians is higher than the negative opinion towards infidels. It feels kinda odd that they hate each other more than they hate Pagans. Other religions with multiple branches only have a -5 trait opinion, which feels more appropriate.

Yes, I completely understand why you had to use Orthodox mechanics. The Baptist ultra-autocephaly is simply too complex to employ unless you give them no mechanics at all and just have local pastors.

I will always make fun of New Jersey. I am a Dixie and it's what I do. You must never be allowed to live down the Jersey Shore and your liberal madness. :siriuspirate:

My point about the ruler of the mainstream Christians being in Atlanta, though, is simply because the largest Protestant denomination, and the largest amount of mainstream Christians (as opposed to their liberal bastardizations that think openly gay female clergy are Biblical) are in the South.

This is how they explain the more centralized church structure and the head of the church being in Atlanta. It seems like the Fan Fork has made a religion for liberal Christians with the "Non-Conformist" religion, but I haven't had a chance to play the mod in quite some time.

Lastly, don't swing at NJ bro or I'll come down there and march through Georgia in the old northern sense of the word :steammocking: But more seriously. The character in NJ is supposed to function in the same way the Charlegmane functioned in history. And I really just used it to try out the new mod mechanics that were released with that update. The head of the Evangelical faith doesn't move to Gotham, nor do I think I imply that in the mod. It's just an interesting alt-pseudohistory model. Also, being an evangelical Christian pastor that lives and works in NJ, trust me, we exist and there are many of us here.

@TurtleShroom 1/2 Hail brother, I appreciate the input. But there are a few things to consider. The first is practicality. In order to make the religion function with the base code, the base mod used Orthodox as the model. So to go about changing it at the level of personal autocephaly would be quite a headache. This is also why the church has a head.
The second is the fact that this is a work of fiction and that they can imagine how Protestantism would turn out in a post-Apocalyptic world. I actually find some agreement with them here. We have important theological differences for sure. But, the church has been known to band together despite these things in the past and work as one. I think that it would be very reasonable to expect churches to band together and unite in some way after something like this despite theological differences. At least moderate and conservative churches would.

Also, there's no way that a mainstream Protestant Christian would EVER put its HQ in NEW FREAKING JERSEY. As opposed to the liberal "Christians" that deny the infallibility of the Bible and openly declare God to be wrong, Protestantism is entrenched in Dixie and the Midwest. Also, the idea that Protestants would have a "religious head" at all is wrong.

If I were going to model it, I would make it so that it uses Autocephaly without a central religious head. That would be the most theologically accurate choice for Protestants.

I would be honored to help you with this Mod.

I am a Christian of the Protestant Southern Baptist denomination. My denomination is classed as Evangelical and it is the largest, mainstream Protestant denomination in RL America.

I consider myself a lay theologian and understand the functions and workings of the Baptist Church and their fixation on absolute autocephaly. Although I cannot extend my expertise to my fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ's denominations, I thought I might be able to help you with that.
