@Tobywolf I'm not really sure. I haven't encountered that problem, and I have both this and Elder Kings installed. I think that the best way to fix would be to unsubscribe from both of them wipe them manually from your /ck2/mods folder and then sub back to them and see if that fixes the issue.
I hope you don't mind constructive feedback:
-"Spend Piety"seems overpowered. I like the idea of having something to spend piety on, but there's lots of weirdness. The price is incredibly low, there doesn't seem to be an upper limit, and as soon as it expires you can refresh it immediately. No other religion has anything even close to this.
-Some decisions feel a little clunky: Like having two separate decisions for choosing your school, or the spend piety decision being called "spend piety" making it seem a bit mechanical. It's perfectly functional, it just kills immersion a little.
-The 25 negative trait opinion between Calvinists and Arminians is higher than the negative opinion towards infidels. It feels kinda odd that they hate each other more than they hate Pagans. Other religions with multiple branches only have a -5 trait opinion, which feels more appropriate.
I will always make fun of New Jersey. I am a Dixie and it's what I do. You must never be allowed to live down the Jersey Shore and your liberal madness.
My point about the ruler of the mainstream Christians being in Atlanta, though, is simply because the largest Protestant denomination, and the largest amount of mainstream Christians (as opposed to their liberal bastardizations that think openly gay female clergy are Biblical) are in the South.
This is how they explain the more centralized church structure and the head of the church being in Atlanta. It seems like the Fan Fork has made a religion for liberal Christians with the "Non-Conformist" religion, but I haven't had a chance to play the mod in quite some time.
Lastly, don't swing at NJ bro or I'll come down there and march through Georgia in the old northern sense of the word
The second is the fact that this is a work of fiction and that they can imagine how Protestantism would turn out in a post-Apocalyptic world. I actually find some agreement with them here. We have important theological differences for sure. But, the church has been known to band together despite these things in the past and work as one. I think that it would be very reasonable to expect churches to band together and unite in some way after something like this despite theological differences. At least moderate and conservative churches would.
Also, there's no way that a mainstream Protestant Christian would EVER put its HQ in NEW FREAKING JERSEY. As opposed to the liberal "Christians" that deny the infallibility of the Bible and openly declare God to be wrong, Protestantism is entrenched in Dixie and the Midwest. Also, the idea that Protestants would have a "religious head" at all is wrong.
If I were going to model it, I would make it so that it uses Autocephaly without a central religious head. That would be the most theologically accurate choice for Protestants.
I would be honored to help you with this Mod.
I am a Christian of the Protestant Southern Baptist denomination. My denomination is classed as Evangelical and it is the largest, mainstream Protestant denomination in RL America.
I consider myself a lay theologian and understand the functions and workings of the Baptist Church and their fixation on absolute autocephaly. Although I cannot extend my expertise to my fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ's denominations, I thought I might be able to help you with that.
@Thewisestpanda, I will do that. I'm not sure how receptive they will be, but I will certainly reach out to them.
I Lol at the Crystal Cathedral being a pilgrimage site - Rob Schuler and his 'Power of Positive Thinking' surviving aeons? Apparently so.
@Field Marshal Forrester, nothing with the mod has changed. Truthfully, I have never played a multiplayer game with this mod. It could be something with the base mod,
I think it'd make more sense to make one's choice of theology hereditary, while still letting descendants who think differently from their parents change their Evangelical branch through a decision at the cost of some piety/prestige. Much like the Sagrado Corazon and Gracia Divina's selection of patron saints, or Occultism's choice of fearsome sects.
I do have a few more suggestions to offer now that I've spent a couple decades playing with the submod:
1) Since their piety boost has been brought in line with the base mod's other sects' bonuses, the Calvinists could still use a buff to keep up with Arminians. Maybe something for martial and/or learning, as well as a slightly greater vassal opinion bonus? Like +10 or even +15. Arminians already effectively get the same +5 opinion bonus with their vassals if said vassals are fellow Christians, after all.
2) AI chances of embracing either Arminianism or Calvinism should be increased - at present, I'm nearly 70 years into this game and barely any of the HCC's rulers (much less Evangelical rulers abroad) have taken up either, just the Emperor and some of the stronger dukes.
The current version should be compatible. This mod will be updated with some bugfixing, balancing, and some Holy Fury stuff, and more music! I appreciate all the support you guys have given this mod, truly!
@Circle of Willis, yeah you hit the nail on the head. I think I'm going to incorporate your suggestion for Arminianism in. I also wasn't aware of the piety boon in relation to others so I will definitely be adjusting that as well.
Thanks again everyone for the suggestions, mod update should be out soon.
Also, the Calvinist/Arminian bonuses seem...excessive, especially compared to the bonuses of other ATE religious traits. I know they're based on the Mutazilite/Ashari bonuses from vanilla, but Arminianism's +5 Diplomacy gives me pretty much no non-roleplay-related reason to ever go Calvinist, while Calvinism's +1 monthly piety is 5x the bonus that being an Americanist President and 4x that of being an Occultist follower of the Pact confers.
Might I recommend nerfing these bonuses somewhat for the next version? Something like having Arminianism confer +2 diplomacy and a +5 opinion bonus with other Christians while Calvinism grants only +0.25 monthly piety but also +1 martial to compensate, for example, or whatever other bonuses you think would be more appropriate.
Sure. https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/after-the-end-a-post-apocalyptic-america-mod.831384/
You'll need a paradox account, and I am unsure if it is updated to work with the most recent patches. It's productions stopped a year ago.
You need to have either the base AFTE mod or the Fan Fork in order to run this, and you have to make sure that you are running both this mod and one of those at the same time.
@Ranger Danger
Thank you for the kind words!
@Stimar
So the reason that I tried to go without dominations, and rather went for streams of thought like Calvinist and Arminian. I tried to keep the original creator's intentions in mind for this mod. It seems that the original creators believed, and I think rightly, that an apocalyptic event would draw churches together rather than split them apart. So I believe, from what I see in the lore, is that the more low-church/center to conservative churches are what makes up the Evangelicals in game. While the more high-church/liberal churches became the High Church heresy in the base game/Anglican in the Fan Fork. Because of all of that I'm keeping it to two major streams of thought. But yes I have respect for Lutheranism, and of course especially love "A Mighty Fortress," so I tried to hint at all different streams of denominations with flavor events and other small easter eggs.
