Description
THIS GRID PROTECTION SYSTEM MOD HAS BEEN OBSOLETED BY THE FOLLOWING MODS:

THE ORIGINAL MOD IS NOT-FUNCTIONAL!

It is left behind for people to look at how it functioned, for study purposes.



Old description:

The Grid Protection System protects all static grids from 22:00 till 20:00 server time, leaving a 2-hour window where static grids can be damaged for raiding and sieging purposes.

Offline raiding is a thing of the past with this mod!

.. Unless you leave your doors open.. ;)

Player commands:
/gps help - Displays an overview of all /gps commands and what they do.
/gps status - Displays the status of the grid protection.
/gps now - Displays the current server time.

Admin commands:
/gps start hh:mm - Set the time at which grids become vulnerable.
/gps end hh:mm - Set the time at which grids are protected again.

Notes:
This only works for games that are not flagged Offline.

This mod causes crashes in the latest versions of the game.

This mod doesn't seem to play well with the most recent update. Each time I use it all houses dissapear and new ones cannot be created.

I think if this was fed by materials like a tax, that would solve online and offline. As long as you feed it Largestone or IronOre your grid protected. Make it real expensive to do so. Your basically paying for a royal protection. You run out of material, you lose your grid.

Just like Zaero said but when the player go offline it take 15-30 mins for the protection to enable so ppl cant abuse it by going offline during wartime.

Also, we can do something good with 'war declaration' system, like, to damage blocks of another faction you must be in war with them, all factionless players are not protected by not beign in a faction eighter so they will have to make one if they want to play multiplayer online.
War declaration can activate a timer in wich both faction structures are vulnerable to damages untill the end of the timer, then the war end.

If we can mix this war declaration system with offline protection system, there is the solution. :lovegrenade:

as an option for a server go for it... i wouldnt mind having one server kind of protected like this, there would be many other servers for more raiding that do not have this enabled. its not a pvp welcome thing, but like i posted about weapon protection -- the ratio of destroy v. build time keeps me away from ME. if someone spends 50 hours building why is it fun for them to have it all destroyed in 10 minutes like it is now? let a server have this option and its more clear to assist builders and more RPG worlds. personally and when ME is finished i am going to host a whitelist server the whole way > we can only manage the strangers whom join our worlds so much. we need the challenge to our defenses but we dont want destruction to be some quick cheap manipulation of the game thing (like tossing 100 timbers into a moat to cross it and hack with a sword at your stone block-- its doable in the game, but weakens the game).

this seems like its not going to fix the problem, and will surely cause a few more. nice try at a short-term fix, but def not the end game solution.

You guys seen the Security Beacon mod for SE?
It renders blocks invulnerable when:
1) Player is offline
2) Player is x distance away
I think claim blocks should become a security beacon, they already despawn when taxes aren't paid.
