New Weapon Range Tables (Vanilla+LW2)

Description
WOTC VERSION : https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1129694779

-= WHAT IS THIS =-
This is an attempt to rebalance the firing modifiers for distance. The goal of the mod is to:

- Increase flavor of weapons and the type you pick
- Penalize ADVENT and Aliens for taking long pot shots, due to the fact XCOM almost never fires with abysmal shots.
- Increase tactical layer's depth, by not simply moving an XCOM/ADVENT unit to an opponent's face and taking a shot at 0 tiles away over and over, allowing for better flank opportunities for some weapons situationally.
- Simplify the Squadsight modifier rules for non Sniper guns

-= CHANGES =-
The mod will overwrite any weapon range table it finds active in your game. The mod supports Vanilla, LW2, DLC 2 and DLC 3. If you do NOT have LW2 installed, this will provide you with range adjustments for both sides which vanilla did not have.

The tables apply to both sides, ADVENT and XCOM. The values for ADVENT are slightly different, as is explained in the screenshot.

** IMPORTANT **: The table stops at 17, but the Sniper Rifle CAN fire beyond that, its just that the penalty used is always the 17 tile one. If you get Squadsight with the other guns, the worst penalty (17) will be used beyond 17.

Notable type changes:
- All modifiers are in the screenshot tables found in this mod's page.

- Drones use the Pistol table.
- Sawed off shotguns have their own special Shotgun table. It's even more accurate than the regular shotgun at point blank, but gets progressively worse. It simply cant be fire from long ranges with reasonable accuracy, even for pot shots, unless the target is completely exposed and your character is a deadshot.

I've read extensively about the advantages of sawing off a shotgun in modern day. Most people tend to say that beyond looking scary and concealment, there is not much change. It makes the shotgun useless against game and increases the spread slightly. I dont think it would warrant it's own range table. I also don't think it unbalances the game but your mileage may varry, I've never felt that Double-Barreling an opponent at point blank is overpowered as it's charge based and also requires you to close in WITHOUT the use of Run and Gun.

- The ArcThrower uses the new Pistol table (LW2 only)

- Turrets now have LMG tables (XCOM or not).
- The Alien Hunters Rifle uses the LMG table.
- The SPARK rifle uses the LMG table.
- Muton Elite uses LMG table.
- Archon uses the LMG table.
- MECs use the LMG table.
- The Sectopod and Sectopod Prototype use the LMG table.
- All of the DLC enemies use the LMG table.

-= UNTOUCHED =-
Anything pertaining to melee or rocket scatter tables are NOT affected.

-= END RESULT & GAMEPLAY ADJUSTMENTS FOR PLAYERS =-
ADVENT/ALIENS: Units that take pot shots against covered XCOM agents will miss more often, or be completely negated.

XCOM:
PISTOL: Best use is point blank, execution style. The range falloff penalty is not too bad especially compared to the Shotgun, so it retains good accuracy throughout. It becomes a good option for other classes than the Sniper.
SMG: Best used at very close range. The SMG fairs OK at medium range but falls off rapidly at the higher end.
LMG: The LMG is a medium range weapon mostly. Avoid getting up front with the opponent. It doesn't fare well at high ranges.
SNIPER: Exclusively a medium and long range weapon, do not even attempt close shots as the modifiers are violent.
RIFLE: The rifle is balanced, retaining good range bonuses extremely far. As its more bulky than the pistol, you should wield it slightly farther away from your opponent.
SHOTGUN: Made to blow up foes up close. The medium range is less than average, and the long range potential is abysmal.

-= HOW IT WORKS =-
The mod will first update everything with OnPostTemplates, but then it will also run using a Screen Listener because LW2 modifies things on the fly. This ensures your weapons always have the correct tables.

This mod overrides any changes to the normal LW2 or XCOM 2 tables. They are completely ignored and replaced. This ensures that this mod will remain compatible with any minute changes in LW2 for balancing.

-= CUSTOMIZATION =-
Yes, you can customize the tables in this mod yourself. However I hardcoded the weapons it changes, mostly because I'm lazy.
This mod does not support 3rd party weapons outside of Vanilla and LW2, by choice. I can include a specific popular weapon on demand if necessary.

-= I DISAGREE WITH X CHANGE =-
Don't use it.

-= REALISM =-
Realism has been taken into account as much as possible.

-= VANILLA USAGE =-
I STRONGLY encourage you increase Cover to the LW2 values of 50/35 to a minimum. I think this would even work well with values of 60/40 or 60/45.

-= FEEDBACK =-
Any feedback is welcome down below. Describe your experience using it, as much on your own side as on the Advent/Alien side against you.

Hi, i want to use it with the Total Advent Weaponry. Generelly overrides this Mod the range table in all other mods like Total Advent or Sparts Weaponmods?

Alright, thanks.

If you add them manually to the ini file, any weapon works.

Does this work with cosmetic weapon mods? Specifically Mercenary Plasma Weapons.

UPDATED 2018-05-21
- Fixed the typo in Shotgun table
- Made the mod run more often because of LW2 update issues (The tables would not get updated correctly depending on your load order. Now it doesnt matter anymore, the mod is run regularly non stop.)
