Update: 25 May @ 8:15am

The mod has been updated for 4.0+ version of the game with the following changes:

  • The descriptor.mod file has its version set to v4.* so that it stops showing up as "out of date"
  • Made several updates to the files that are mainly related to script formatting. Nothing substantial should have changed visibly or with the prescripted countries created for the mod.
  • Attempted to remove the YoRHa shipset option that isn't supposed to show up, but apparently, does. I think it has something to do with graphical culture, which I believe now has something to do with adding shipsets, but removing it does not fix the problem either. This is a rather harmless bug that seems to have come up more recently with one of the updates that I am looking into, but I might not be able to fix...

If there are any issues, please report them in the comments.

Update: 28 Nov, 2024 @ 10:23pm

The mod has been updated for 3.14 version of the game with the following changes:

  • The descriptor.mod file has its version set to v3.* so that it will continue to show as compatible with future updates. Previously, it was just 3.* which is why it showed as out of date.
  • Fixed the portrait for the Red Girls and moved it further left so that it would show up properly in the "Government" tab in game (previously, it showed only part of the image).
  • Removed the white spot between the arms of the Red Girls portrait so that it would be transparent.

Not a big update, just minor fixes and corrections.

Hotfix update!

- Fixed issue with YoRHa portraits being only compatible with Machine Authority ethics. Players should now be able to use the portraits with different ethics now. Sorry about that!

Update: 13 May, 2024 @ 3:03pm

Hello all, an update after 3 years has finally arrived!

There have been a number of changes to Stellaris over the years, most of which did not entirely affect this mod. But over time, some small changes have piled up and, eventually, required the mod to be updated. Unfortunately, the changes I've made could break backwards compatibility (for which I am very sorry about that if you were playing on an older version), but in order to fix some of the problems with the mod, especially with later versions of the game, it had to be done.

Below are a list of changes that I have made to the mod:

  • The mod now requires The Machine Age DLC due to some changes (such as ruler traits) being added.
  • Both YoRHa and the Machine Network prescripted countries are still Gestalt Consciousness ethics.
  • Updated much of the name and directory structures to be inline with the latest version of the game. This was causing the prescripted empires to not appear as well as the graphics to be broken/missing. Some new files were added as well as a result.
  • Translation files have been updated and all names within the names_list file of the mod have been moved to the translation files. There is only an english translation, but now that the changes have been made, users can go in and change this themselves or even add new translation files for their native language without having to go through all of the mod files.
  • Fixed the issue with brackets missing in Fleet names. This was fixed via the translation file.
  • Fixed an issue found in yorha_classes.txt that caused an error making the mod not show for newer versions of the game.
  • Fixed various text issues that showed missing or garbled text in some parts of ships or leader unit names.
  • Added new leader names.
  • Added new fleet names.
  • Added planet names for relic worlds based on some game locations or item names.
  • Added planet names for hive, machine, and habitats based on weapons from the Nier series.
  • No changes were made to the music files.

Both YoRHa and the Machine Network prescripted empires are still Machines and still use Gestalt Consciousness ethics, so this did not change. While looking over the possibilities, I found that making the change currently might not be a good idea on my end, at least for now, as it was more important to update/fix the mod for the latest version of the game. I may later add a different version of the same prescripted empires at a later date, but no promises on this.

With that said, since the latest DLC does allow machines to have different ethics, you can now make them into something else if you wish from the Empire select screen. To do this, simply click on the faction you want, hit the "Edit" button, make the changes you want, and then click "Save" which will then create a new empire based on the prescripted one without overwriting the base Empire. This will allow players to make whatever changes they feel is better/more suitable than the ones I have set as default.

I have tested the mod and it should work with the latest version of the game, but please feel free to let me know if it is not working as it should.

Thank you for subscribing to the mod and see you all in another few years when it needs updated, lol.

Update: 19 Apr, 2021 @ 1:39pm

Finally updated the mod almost 2 years later! Here is what changed:

- Files are no longer in an archive, but are now loose, individual files (archive files were removed after 2.4 or 2.5 version of Stellaris and are only still working via backwards compatibility). This means that, yes, people will have to re-download all the files again (sorry), but on the bright side, any future updates going forward will be much smaller due to it being in loose file format (which is good in the long run).

- Added origins for each of the prescripted empires.

  • YoRHa's origin is "Propsperous Unification" which is a default origin (they start with 4 additional pops, 2 additional districts built, and some starting bonuses)
  • Machines origin is "Resource Consolidation" which is a synthetic dawn origin (they start with a machine world)
  • These origins, as far as I am aware, do not require other DLCs to work.
  • If you do not like these origins or anything else about the prescripted empires, you can edit them in-game and make your own custom empire based on them, fyi.
- Changed the localisation file to "yorhanier_l_english.yml", preventing overwrites of other mods/game files (probably should have done that from the beginning, but I was unaware at the time).

- Made the supported version 3.* so that it will remain compatible in future updates (basically, it won't yell at everyone that the mod is out of date now and I won't have to do anything until 4.0 unless something breaks! Hooray!)

- These changes should not impact your save files or your previously edited empires based on the ones found in this mod. The assets are all there as well as the scripts so those should be fine. I tested this myself with my latest save file (currently playing 3.0 with YoRHa and turning them into a Crisis Empire, which is fun so far, lol) and tested both the prescripted and edited empires. So far, I have yet to run into any problems.

Also, if this mod is not working after the update is downloaded, please be sure to verify your game files and reload the mods in Stellaris Launcher. I don't expect there to be problems, but if there are, then that should fix it in most cases.

NOTICE: Since this mod is being updated for 3.0+, this will likely mean that it will not work with older versions of the game, at least not out of the box (you'll have to mess with the files yourself, probably). Unfortunately, any update to this mod was probably going to do this after the 2.4 update occurred a few years back, which was partly why I didn't bother to update it for a long time (the other part was that people would have to redownload the files again if it did update it). For those of you who did play this mod on an older version of the game, I am sorry if this disrupts your game.

Update: 20 Jul, 2019 @ 1:56pm

An update was released to fix compatibility with various mods and reduce the chances of newer mods conflicting with this mod:

- Fixed an issue where portraits would not show up when other mods that added portraits were installed. This change reduces the chance of other mods conflicting with this one. This was what was specifically done:

  • Renamed the portrait .dds files to ensure that they would not conflict with other files. They already exist in their own folder, but if referenced, they may conflict with another mod.
  • Edited the portrait .txt files for both YoRHa and MachineNetwork species and updated their portrait references as well as renaming the reference names.
- Fixed an issue with the YoRHa flag not showing up due to its file name (same issue as above with portraits).

- Updated all the prescripted empires to use new references to the renamed portraits and flag references.

IMPORTANT!!!!
Due to the changes, some things might have been broken or aren't showing up correctly. Please read the following to fix the issue:

- If you made a custom empire using this mod and its files/prescripted empires, you will need to reapply the changes to them after downloading the update for this mod due to the references changes. This can be done by editing them in-game or editing the file named "user_empire_designs.txt" and update the references manually. Alternatively, deleting the empire and recreating it will also work as well (though thats less than optimal solution).

- Your save game will still work, but portrait and flag info will have been modified, so they will not show up correctly. You will need to either start a new game OR edit your save file.

- If you wish to edit your save file, keep in mind that doing this could potentially break your save file, so this should be done by users who know what they are doing! I am not responsible for broken saves if you do this! However, if you still wish to try, follow these instructions:
  • Read the Save Game Editing[stellaris.paradoxwikis.com] Paradox wiki page for reference.
  • Make a copy of your save file to edit. The save files will need to be downloaded to your hard drive in the location listed on the wiki page. If you use Steam Cloud primarily, all you need to do is run the game, load your latest save, and save it without using the Steam Cloud option. It should appear in the save file location on your hard drive now.
  • Open the save file with 7zip and extract the files in order to edit them. Use Notepad++ to edit these files!
  • In the "meta" file, replace all instances of file="symbol.dds" with file="ycnaya_flag.dds" and save.
  • In the "gamestate" file, replace all instances of file="symbol.dds" associated to YoRHa with file="ycnaya_flag.dds" like above with meta. If you are using/playing against either (or both) species from this mod in your game, you'll need to replace the references for the portraits in game state as well. For YoRHa, look for the ruler name "White" and replace portrait="01" with portrait="ycnaya001". For MachineNetwork, look for the rule name "N1 and N2" and replace portrait="001" with portrait="ycnamn001". Once this has been completed, save the file.
  • Once both files are updated, update the .sav file with the edited files. Make sure the save file is in the save directory, start the game, attempt to load it. If everything went well, the flag and portraits of the empires should now show up correctly.

Update: 15 Jul, 2019 @ 7:12am

  • Added the Machines (empire name Machine Network) species/empire to the mod:
    - The species is set as a Determined Exterminator with fast growing pops.
    - Terminus (system) and Terminus Prime are the names of their starting system/planet.
    - New portraits included exclusively for Machines to make them unique.
    - Can potentially be seen in-game as an AI opponent (will need to verify).
    - Hivemind voice set for empire.
    - Names and flag are made up from in-game assets rather than custom ones. This may change later.
    - Assets are available to create your own custom version if you do not like the prescripted one (go ham!)

  • Changed voice greetings for YoRHa from mammalian to human (female).
  • Added new portrait to YoRHa: Zero (from Drakengard 3, yes I know, not lore friendly but it fit pretty well with the rest so I added it!)
  • Separated portraits into their own directories for better organization.
  • Corrected a few typos in the name lists files.
