The Better Update (v2.0.0)

BetterEditor has migrated to the 2021 Unity Editor! You can now create new mods for the latest version of Ravenfield (EA26). It's also more modular than ever!

Since some classes has been renamed by SteelRaven, you will lose the data in PlaneConstructor. You must use AirplaneConstructor from now on.

This version is uncompatible with Unity 5! I'm considering making a GitHub repositery for the old versions.

You must update to the newest version of RavenfieldToolsPack!

Additions
  • Added Unity Asset Store link: the new versions of Unity doesn't have the embedded web browser anymore.

Tweaks
  • Disabled useless warning in the console
  • Ravenscript reader can now read ".lua" files
  • The localisation system will now show the ID of the missing resource in the text too
  • You can change the distance and rotation of the camera by moving it: it will follow the dimensions of the vehicle.

Changes
  • Using SphereCollider for airplane's gears: this will prevent the plane to raise the tail up. Also optimizes the mod with less calculations!
  • Added modular system: you can now create your own modules without being lost in the core files.
  • Modular localisation: each modules has its own localisation resources, which mean you don't have one localisation file for every modules! You will find the instructions in the localisation instructions built-in documentation.
  • PlaneConstructor is renamed into AirplaneConstructor: any saved PlaneConstructor data will be lost.
  • MapCreator is now an editor tool: it also comes with a palette system were you can place your own prefabs. To create a palette, right click in the project tab > BetterEditor > Map Creator > Prefab Palette. In order to use the prefab placer, you need to open its editor tool.

Removals
  • Removed obsolete MountedTurret: use MountedStabilizedTurret's constructor instead.
  • Removed the hotkey for reloading the localisation resources: the hotkey prevented to write the character 'R'.
  • Removed the Map Creator wizard (temporarily): this feature hasn't been ported in time because of the new Terrain data, but you can use the "New Scene" wizard and use a template instead.

HOTFIX (v1.1.3)

CAUTION: Use the Unity Import Package feature for this one ! You can use the update merger after this update.

Fixes

- Fixed the installation failure for new users. You can now choose what assets you want to import (a.k.a. Unity Package Importer Interactive Mode). The package now includes the Settings file I'm very sorry for that inconvenience !

Tweaks

- The "Paste" button will now create a new instance of the Todo Task or Todo List.
- The Task List completion percentage will now not count Complementary tasks.
- Fixed the note foldout.
- The colors in the Todo Manager are now less agressive, to improve readability.
- Minor display fixes for the Todo Manager

The "Workflow Update" ! (v1.1.2)

Additions

- Added the Todo Manager ! Create a Task Context by right clicking to create lists of tasks.
- Added a link to my official website.

Tweaks
- Added Testers in the credits.
- Shows the curent version in the credits.
- It will shows the curent version when doing a manual update and it was not necessary.

Known Bugs

- When downloading an update, an error message will appear. It will stop poping after the download is complete.
- When installing BetterEditor for the first time it may not find the Settings file. If so, create a new Settings file by right clicking, while in BetterEditor folder, and click on "Create/BetterEditor/For Backups Only !/Settings". This will be fixed firstly in the next hotfix.

Hotfix ! (v1.1.1)

Additions

- Added "Advanced" terrain paint option in the Map Creator. It allows you to add or remove layers and to configure layer settings.
- Added "Open Weapons Lab Scene" in the "Weapon Creation Tools", in the Unity toolbar.

Tweaks

- Revamped the Terrain Paint interface, it now displays 3 lists (Materials, Textures and Details). You can now add your own grass and tree (The trees will not be automatically generated on the terrain but will be set in the map's terrain.)

Fixes

- Fixed an issue where the property field Arms wasn't displayed on melee weapons inspectors and other non-generic weapon inspectors.
- Fixed a known bug ! The Ravenscript scanner will no longer generate exceptions in the console ! It has now considerable performances boost too !

The "Map Creator" Major Update ! (v1.1.0)

Additions

- Added a Map Creator Window ! You can create a map without having to put manually every necessary map elements, very fast and from an heightmap ! Some features are locked, but they will be implemented in the future.
- Added a Vehicle Creator Window.
- Added an overlay for the scene editor ! You can put map elements directly from the editor. You can switch it off or on from the settings or from the Unity toolbar. Supports ProBuilder !
- Added a link to terrain.party[terrain.party] to get an heightmap from the world.
- Added icons for the scene editor's overlay.

Fixes

- Fixed the update listener.

- The editor scripts for FloatingRigidBody and DirectionnalDragForce can now apply the modifications.
- The editor scripts for Weapon can now display the uiSprite, arms, allowArmMeshReplacement, parentWeapon, useParentWeaponSightModes and isLocked properties in the inspector.

HOTFIX - The default settings file has been removed from the package, so your settings will not be overwritten.

For new users, this file will be auto-generated after you installed the BetterEditor package.

The "Localisation" update ! (v1.0.2)

Additions

- Added instructions for the Localisation system ! You will find this in "BetterEditor/Translation Instructions". Every translators can begin to translate now. Some ressources will be added and may subject to change.
- Added a "Settings" button
- Added a hotkeys for "Refresh Localisation Files" button (Left Shift + R).

Tweaks

- Weapon configuration UI has been revamped.
- Every constructor (vehicles, weapons, projectiles ) can now be translated.
